Shennaqua, Lindharin what are your estimations?
We already know the damage of the explosion is 32 points worth.
Although to be fair to the narrator, we don't really know the damage amount when we're doing our planning...
Speaking on Shenna's behalf, since she posted her Force Field stats in the IC thread, her force field is probably enough to protect those inside it from any reasonable (and most unreasonable) explosions. If her math is right, her medium burst (so 25' x 25') force field has 140 hits. The narrator could certainly decide that against a large, nearby explosion that isn't just hitting one spot but is hitting the entire thing at once, it could probably be taking extra damage from the blast. But even if the blast does double or even triple damage to the field, it should be enough to provide solid protection against a moderate explosion.
As for Tempest, I wanted to guard against a poor roll, so I used the Push rules to increase my rank up to 5 for my Mastery check. And then I got a good roll, so by the book I am able to achieve something on the order of stopping a volcano. Hopefully the bomb is not that big!
However, just shutting the explosion down isn't very exciting, doesn't make for a good story, and hogs the spotlight. And the Mastery power is one of those very subjective and judgment-based powers, as we've discussed in another thread recently. So for my money, AslanC is totally in his rights to say I can't use it at all, that this is a combat effect and I shouldn't be using the environmental manipulations of Mastery against it. Given all of that, I'll be happy and consider myself successful if I noticeably reduce the damage to the people and redirect the blast to cause less damage to the structure (and keep the roof from falling on us!). Ultimately, however AslanC wants to interpret it's result is fine with me if it makes for an exciting scene; I made that choice before I decided to use such a subjective power.
So it sounds like we have a general plan, right? Front-Runner gets the mayor away, Zero gets the girl (Tempest's jealous!

), Elemental protects the driver, Numinous shields everyone she can reach with her force field (including the Ferret and the Captain if they're still nearby), and Tempest tries to make everyone else's job easier and make sure the roof doesn't cave in on us. Maybe the Captain can try to help shore up the building's support structure, if needed, or use a super-clap to blow out any secondary fires that might start?
Yes/no?
