Mhh , Ferret is like a super martial artist. He got Danger sense, so he probably saw it coming but I don't think he can do something except avoiding the burst.
Captain Max got super speed, flight ,high soak and super strengh, he can surely save a civilian or two...(Even if he's the kind of guy to act first and think after )
I don't know if the Elemental can be quick enough to save someone.
Tempest can contain the explosion and Numinous can shield at least 3 of the civilians and any heroes in the area of her force field.
I'm not familiar enough with the system to tell if Tempest and Numinous skills could reduce the explosion to a firecracker.
Shennaqua, Lindharin what are your estimations?
We already know the damage of the explosion is 32 points worth.
About the driver, Does, Front-Runner, The Elemental, Captain Max or Detective Zero got the skills to rip the door off and to catch the driver out of the burst (or in the force field)

I misread the distance (4 not 20 squares). If I can change my action, here's what I'd do to save the driver (The Elemental doesn't see the difference in value between the people, just that one is in the greatest danger).
Could The Elemental run to the car (his sprint is 4 squares), use Shapechange to create a "cocoon" of stone out of his body around the driver, thus shielding him from the blast, assuming the blast doesn't rip The Elemental appart in the process?
Is that feasible?

Although to be fair to the narrator, we don't really know the damage amount when we're doing our planning...Volsung wrote:I'm not familiar enough with the system to tell if Tempest and Numinous skills could reduce the explosion to a firecracker.

We already know the damage of the explosion is 32 points worth.
Speaking on Shenna's behalf, since she posted her Force Field stats in the IC thread, her force field is probably enough to protect those inside it from any reasonable (and most unreasonable) explosions. If her math is right, her medium burst (so 25' x 25') force field has 140 hits. The narrator could certainly decide that against a large, nearby explosion that isn't just hitting one spot but is hitting the entire thing at once, it could probably be taking extra damage from the blast. But even if the blast does double or even triple damage to the field, it should be enough to provide solid protection against a moderate explosion.
As for Tempest, I wanted to guard against a poor roll, so I used the Push rules to increase my rank up to 5 for my Mastery check. And then I got a good roll, so by the book I am able to achieve something on the order of stopping a volcano. Hopefully the bomb is not that big!
However, just shutting the explosion down isn't very exciting, doesn't make for a good story, and hogs the spotlight. And the Mastery power is one of those very subjective and judgment-based powers, as we've discussed in another thread recently. So for my money, AslanC is totally in his rights to say I can't use it at all, that this is a combat effect and I shouldn't be using the environmental manipulations of Mastery against it. Given all of that, I'll be happy and consider myself successful if I noticeably reduce the damage to the people and redirect the blast to cause less damage to the structure (and keep the roof from falling on us!). Ultimately, however AslanC wants to interpret it's result is fine with me if it makes for an exciting scene; I made that choice before I decided to use such a subjective power.
So it sounds like we have a general plan, right? Front-Runner gets the mayor away, Zero gets the girl (Tempest's jealous! ), Elemental protects the driver, Numinous shields everyone she can reach with her force field (including the Ferret and the Captain if they're still nearby), and Tempest tries to make everyone else's job easier and make sure the roof doesn't cave in on us. Maybe the Captain can try to help shore up the building's support structure, if needed, or use a super-clap to blow out any secondary fires that might start?
Yes/no?

The plan sounds fine to me. Wasn't trying to hog the spotlight with multiple actions. I actually just read up on superspeed and realized it gave me that ability.
Possible Superspeed houserule: -1 dice penalty for each action beyond the first. Similar to Swift Strike, or paired Weapons. Gives me a disincentive to do it all the time

Sorry, I forgot about your final declared action when I was summarizing what everyone was planning. I didn't mean to leave out your return to the scene and the attempt to help mitigate the damage with the whirlwind blast, I just overlooked it. And I don't think it was hogging the action, either. It feels genre-appropriate and cinematic to me; it is certainly something I could see in a comic, which is always cool to see in a supers game.
And one thing to keep in mind is that Super Speed is already inherently limited by the Tiring disadvantage, so you cannot use it every round and have to pick and choose when it is most useful. To me, this is one of those times.

AslanC, how do you want to handle priority for your game? The book gives 3 options; based on what you've asked for so far I assume you prefer rolling to static priority values. Do you plan for us to roll once per encounter, or once per page?
If you prefer once per page, do you think the option the book discusses for having folks roll their next page's priority at the end of their current panel would help speed things up? So by the end of this page when you summarize the results (or whatever), we'll already know the initiative order for the next page?
