Hey there, everyone.

First: I need to make an apology. It was totally unintentional on my part, but the end of my last post made me sound like an arrogant D-bag. Jeez. :)

What I MEANT to convey (and failed miserably doing) was that I was trying to decide whether or not I wanted to invest in this idea, and if there was anyone else who thought it was cool (beyond the awesome people who had already commented), then hearing that would help me decide. But instead...D-bag. So terribly sorry about that.

Anyway...if I have your forgiveness, the request is for naught anyway. While this is in no way an official announcement, as it has not received BASHMAN's seal of approval, I do plan to pitch this idea formally. So, if there is any kind of thing you'd like to see in a book like this, any kind of character you'd like to see statted up, any cosmological question you think needs to be answered, please feel free to share it with me. I'll probably work on the pitch in the next couple weeks.

My co-conspirator is a man by the name of Bob Noberini, whose art has been in both Wake and Fight (and whose inks will be in Round 2). You can see more of his art (mostly superhero art at that) at http://stubbedtoe.deviantart.com.

Thanks.

I like what I see so far.

My only concern is the following;

1] Portrayal of Jewish faith

2] Ditto for Islamic.

3] Given there are literally thousands of Christian sects, all claiming to be the right one, what would your base be? Catholic? Church of England? Mormon? Etc... I am sure you can appreciate how sticky this could be.

All three would given an opening for offending people, though I am sure you have already considered this.

I stand curious :)

Well...yeah...herein lies the issue.

Yes, I did have answers for all this planned, mostly in the form of some serious disclaimers from the get-go.

And there was no doubt that some people just wouldn't groove to what we had planned.

Which is why we have moved away from this idea unless there was a crazy outpouring of "yes, please!", which we totally don't expect to get.

Hence the other thread (and my email to you).
:)

Well you could make it part of the overall DWP Universe, but not the focus.

A segment of it in the same way that Dr. Strange or Dr. Fate are segments of their respective unis.

Just thinking out loud ;)

First big Dread fan. Run it at the Local Cons almost every year!

I am always interested in this kind of thing. Was a HUGE In Nominee Fan! Would love to see something like this!

Thanks, Gobbo! And thanks for the Dread love too - it was my doorway into publishing, which is totally cool!

As you can see, we are likely to make some of these ideas more background material for a broader, ultimately more traditional, setting.

When we talked about it, we very specifically decided that we didn't want to make Dread: The Superhero Game! :)

Yeah, I don't think Dread would make a great Supers game. I do love it though and several of the folks who have played in my Dread games have all bought it. I learned it from a friend who played it at Gencon and immediately bought a copy and started running it at local Cons.

While I can see the concern over how to treat religions, I think people make too big a deal about it. If you put in a disclaimer, and someone has an issue with what you write, then, imho, they're being an asshat.

There are plenty of games that cover religion in them, not always in a good light (as well as comics and novels). I've yet to see any of them go under because of it. If you feel it's not the direction you want to go in, that's fine. I just don't think you should let your concepts go because you're worried someone will take offense at a fictional portrayal of their religion.

(yes, I know I'm trying to take some time off from the forums. However, I felt it was necessary to comment on the subject regardless, as I feel the idea was too good to go to waste)

Thanks a lot, urbwar. That means a lot.
