Chimera Ch3, Like Moths to a Flame

[Dustland]

Flames leap around Ten Chin, turning him into a massive torch. His squeals turn to screams then to horrific moans. Before anyone can react to the horrorible sight, his blackened body collapses to the ground with a thud.

The terrible smell of charred flesh fills the room.

Outside you hear the goons scream, "Oh my God, they're gonna kill us, run!" An unearthly scream calls out from the dock as a Banshee screams at the fleeing mobsters.

[Boost]

Jason stands, horrified by the death of Ten Chin, "We... he's..." realizations of the implications hit him, We're murderers now...

[Protheuz]

Nycto gathers the fleeing mobsters, dazing some of them with his banshees.

He them moves into the warehouse and looks coldly, without emotion at the charred body.What have you done... Killing might be necessary sometimes, but...
"What's done is done. We should try to find who their boss is, and where he might be."

Nycto will daze one of the thugs at least, so the team has one thug to question.

"* that!" Jason says, still staring at the roasted body, "I didn't... I didn't get involved to be a murderer. I said it before, I got my own to take care of. I can't bring this kind of attention to Julia and myself," Jason, having been backing away from the group, now in a far corner begins to wrap himself in shadows, "I've got someone depending on me still breathing. Don't look for me."

Jason sinks into the shadows, leaving the others to do what they will, while he ends up a block from home, Julia, I'm coming home, and I'm never using powers again...

[Saker]

Fenris extricates himself from his almost Full Nelson and attempts to find a pulse.

Quietly and calmly, Fenris says, "Javier, remind me never to * you off. That's a horrible way to die."

"Nycto, accelerate that interrogation. We need to find where the other end of that TV was and who that boss was. If they don't answer you, tell them I'll motivate them."

[Dustland]

Fenris checks Ten Chin's pulse, not expecting to find one. The skin crunches sickeningly under his touch, but to his suprise, a faint pulse thumps against his fingers.

Nycto's phone begins to ring, the number unlisted.

Javi snaps out of his dazed condition once Ten Chin's body hits the floor. Trying to hear through the ringing in his ears, he realizes his phone is going off; it's one of his hombres over in the other building.

[Saker]

Surprised, Fenris says, "Tony's alive. Barely. If he has a hope to live, he needs immediate medical attention. Who can transport him the fastest without making him worse?"

Fenris listens for that buzzing overhead.

Despite the commotion, Fenris is able to hear the faint on-again, off-again buzz from somewhere high above.

[Nestor]

Javier absently wipes the blood off his nose as he numbly lifts the cell phone to his ear.

"Que pasa?" he mumbles into the phone, staring at the charred body that used to be Ten Chin Tony. A stream of emotions flit across his eyes before they go flat.

The jeweled eyes of the lizard tattoos seem to glitter for a second before they too go dull.

[Protheuz]

Nycto watches Jason leave with sadness.
He moves next to him and says "Kid, I understand your reasons. I've seen a lot of people stay like that in the war. "
He hugs him again and says "Farewell friend. If you ever need me, give me a call. Till next time we meet."

He moves into the warehouse "Fenris you can question the thug, while I'll go with crispyman here to the hospital."

As his phone rings he answers "Hello!"

[Dustland]

Nestor: "Hey cuz, Pedro's been monitoring the scanner; police are on their way. Vamanos."

Protheuz: "Are you and your team at a warehouse in Horizon City?" a digitally scrambled voice asks.

"Who is this?"

"The Doorman. I've been watching a security feed of a gun battle between some Novas and some mobsters the police have been tailing. If it's you, you guys had better get the * out of there, they're about to send in a NHSC team."

"A what? How did you get this...?"

"Shut up and listen to me, I'll explain later. Horizon City contracted with the security firm that put down the Taliban in Afghanistan. Those guys are in town and on their way. Here, meet me at these coordinates at 7am. Gotta go."

The phone clicks off and a text arrives a moment later, a set of coordinates to somewhere pops up on your screen. Looking at the time, it's 5 am.

[Protheuz]

"We have no time, gather up around me." says Nycto to the others. "If you want, grab one of the thugs and bring him for questioning, but quickly!!!"

When the others comply Nycto will use the teleport others (that he still has from before) and teleport them all to the hospital.

There he leaves Ten Chin crying "medical emergency", until someone answers and teleporting again, with the others directly into his house.

[Saker]

Fenris gently lays Tony down and heads over to the thugs slapping Javier and Nycto on the shoulders as he passes.

He grabs two thugs by their arms and lifts them a little. Then in his scariest voice, Fenris growls to all of them, "I want the name and location of your boss, right now. If you delay, I start hurting you."

Jason's assertion draw him out of his stupor

"What? wait!" Overdrive stammers.But it's too late. Jason's gone only the shadows remain.

How was it possible? Things have gone out of control, faltering their determination and unity in an instant.

"Javier, remind me never to * you off. That's a horrible way to die.""

"Fenris, are you out of your mind? How can you joke about this? You looked a bit psychopathic earlier...This...that's not us...That's so wrong...And now Jason's gone..." Overdrive says.

Surprised, Fenris says, "Tony's alive. Barely. If he has a hope to live, he needs immediate medical attention.

He breathes a sigh of relief.

"Now what? What's going on?" Overdrive asks , almost bored.

"I want the name and location of your boss, right now. If you delay, I start hurting you."

"No, really What's going on?" he asks Nycto.

[Saker]

"Fenris, are you out of your mind? How can you joke about this? You looked a bit psychopathic earlier...This...that's not us...That's so wrong...And now Jason's gone..." Overdrive says.

Fenris responded after Overdrive said this and probably before he verified Tony was dead.

Fenris looks at Overdrive puzzled and replies very unemotionally, "I wasn't joking with Javier. And I don't think he meant to kill Tony. We are all still getting used to our transformation and what we can know do."

Finally reacting to Jason leaving, Fenris adds, "Good luck Jason. I wish him all the best to return to his previous life. I wish I could, too."
