With this Nycto returns to Novatube and searches "Nova + Death" trying to find other Nova death cases, searching for something strange or suspicious or that dark tahoe.

Protheuz: Your search returns a hundred hits, almost all along the lines of "Death to Novas!". Browsing through the postings, you find a message in a thread written by MD2010 in which he says 'I ain't goin' out like no Doc Spark; no way I gonna smoke myself.'

Doing a profile search on Nova.net for Doc Spark pulls up no results, neither does searching the forum for further references.

You google Doc Spark and find a news article in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (Alaska) about a Prof. of Electrical Engineering named Jamie Sparks, who had killed herself two weeks ago with a gun shot to the head. In the article, it reveals that Doctor Sparks was "gifted" with superhuman control over electricty and was also thought to have become one of the smartest novas on earth at the time of The Event.

No suicide note was left behind, and friends and family were shocked by her actions.

Further searches reveal a middle aged engineering professor at the University of Alaska, but nothing else really stands out.

[Well, at this point, I have Fenris, Jason and Harrison riding with Javier, with Nycto going off on his own.]

Javier is anxious to leave; the adrenaline is wearing off and he's starting to hurt although he tries not to show it.

"Awright, awright, let's get a move on," he calls out, "anyone riding with me, get in the car. We can have a tea party later and exchange recipes, okay?"

Once he starts the engine, the radio begins to blare out Spanish hip-hop. You swear it's the exact same tune you heard in the truck.

Again the shadows move towards Nycto, wrapping themselves around him, making him dark, with several puffs of shadow darting to the ground and walls, moving as if in an unseen windstorm.

Slowly Nycto fuses with the Shadows around himself, appearing instantly at home.

In the wall a picture is in prominence - a group of man in desert camouflage grinning at the camera.

Javier's expression turns to stone. In a very measured voice, he answers the first question, ignoring the second. "That's Kinto Sol; they're putting out an album next month."

The tone of his words belie the casualness of his reply. It's as obvious as a sign saying, "Conversational Mine Field Ahead."

Alan slouches in the couch with the Tv turned on, but looking straight at the picture of his former squad. Near him, a bottle of whisky stands half empty, as he remembers each one of his mates.

"Dead because of me...."

With that he drinks another glass...

(In this stupor Nycto will "listen" the TV in a news channel. Any trouble or new news maybe takes him out of his regrets.)

He was about to quickly change the talking point to NFL football (or whatever damned subject that wouldn't bring painfull memories) when Jason answered.

Javier and Fenris share a look of common understanding and both give a slight nod. There is a fleeting moment of kinship between them, of two who have lost and are still feeling the emtpiness the loss has left behind.

"Fourteen," Jason replies, "She's going through more of a 'beat all the boys up her age to prove she's just as tough' phase. Says she want's to impress her big brother."

Protheuz slips into the shadows and is gone before the rest of you gather yourselves and shuffle into Javier's Chevy Nova and are assualted by a wave of spanish music; all you can make out is the occassional "Ciente cuatro punto nueve" as the announcer yells out the station's id every few minutes.

Javi pulls up to a well lit dinner that is suprisingly packed despite the late hour; Fenris get out and makes his way warily to the door and finds a seat in the corner of the old building.

Seeing that he's settled in, the three of you remaining (Boost, Nestor, and Volsung) head out onto the quiet city streets, making your way to one of your homes.
