Any computer that is somewhat recent should run it no problems.

Really? Hmm, I was thinking that maybe it didn't play well with Windows XP. I've had the experience with other old "Windows" games not making the jump to the newer OS (case in point: X-COM).

Maybe it's Steam's version of the software that's the issue.

There is an update you can get with a simple google search. I recently put this on my son's pc and he has Vista. I have had Freedom Force on my xp computer up until last year when I upgraded to Windows 7.

I bit the bullet and went ahead with buying the game through Steam, figuring it was worth risking $8 for both the first game and the 3rd Reich one.

The game seems to be working fine on my machine. I guess it was just the demo that had problems.

Playing through the campaign now.

Wait, you can get the 1st one & second for $8!!! I only got FFV3R! Now I can get the first one too, sweet!

PS- when you finish the campaign, there are TONS of modules out there. I highly recomend the "pulp fiction" one (it is basically a homage to all the awesome pulp characters like the phantom, the shadow, etc- but also has neat surprises, like the android from Metropolis).

Steam installs the games a funny way; I was unable to run the beta patch I found on the 'Net because it was failing to find the installation.

Hopefully the modules don't require hard-coded file locations to run.

I'm glad you decided to pick it up. As supers fan and Bash! Fan I think you will enjoy it.
