New Super ,Duper Powers Book

Post by bigsteveuk »

Hi,

I know a new super, duper power book is in the making, I was just wondering if anyone had highlighted any powers they would like to see and what needs being added to the mix and would there be any benefit in doing so, maybe give Bash a few more ideas or a feel for what his customers want?

Regards,

Steve

I'd appreciate the input myself.

well
Resistance and immunity seem more geared towards elemental things like fire or electricity than effects so

some way to reduce immobile , weakness , or nullify would be nice , assuming resistance or immunity wouldn't

Morph
Similar to Mystique, I know you can kind of use illusion but it doesn’t fit quiet right.

Resources
I think maybe you should have to take it as an advantage or a power. An example is the Thompson smg very powerful for free. This excludes villains and minions.

The first will be covered with a power called "Changeling".

I don't understand what you mean with the Resources & Thompson SMG thing, though...

From what I gather at the moment anyone can have any weapon free of charge. So what I am saying is there should be some sort of cost.

For example a Thompson SMG
X5 Dmg, 20 Range, Full Auto, 8 Ammo

It’s really a 3+ point power, yet you get if for free and as you can add enhancements to a normal weapon it really is being treated as a power.

So I am saying you should either have to buy a 1 point power called assets or probably better take an advantage that lets you have guns, sword, knives for free.

Like an Equipment advantage? I've toyed with something like that, or even like the way Equipment works in M&M, where you can buy it as powers (super senses for radio, special attacks for guns, immobilize for a goop gun/non-lethal weapons, etc) and as long as the power is a gadget and no better than something you can get in the real-world free market, it only costs 1 character point per 5 levels or something. So far, I have decided not to bother, the "they can get it for free" approach hasn't caused us any problems yet.

Remote Viewing
The ability to displace your senses ESP kinda thing.?

Illusion
A bit more detail on illusion e.g. how do you disbelieve it and if you believe can’t it harm you e.g. if you think you’re on fire. So is it kind of a mind v mind thing.

How about some enhancment allowing you to sub mind/mental defense for brawn to soak. Like on mindcontrol to represent a drug being administerd, for example.

Couldn't the Thompson simply be on the "restricted" equipment list if you want? Anyone with Police Powers, Resources,
Restricted Weapons: Weapons marked with an asterisk (*) are not common among the general populace or police. They are usually used by military, special agents, or criminals.
All you'd need to do is put that little asterisk next to the Thompson description. The reason I didn't was I was presuming characters operating on secret volcano lairs crawling with dinosaurs & giant gorillas... in which case the niceties of the law didn't seem relevant. Also, in the 1920s, I'm fairly certain that you COULD just walk into a gun store and buy a Thompson no questions asked.

Yeppers, you could buy a Thompson but they were expensive, about half the price of a Model-T. Never the less, there were no gun control laws at the time so anyone could own one. Just watched a show on History Ch last night about it!

Completley off point someone was telling me that to guild a sten gun (yes I know they sucked) was 79p and to build a Thompson was £25.

ive been thinking about streaking characters and the stretching power.
and the one thing they seem to have to most of is defensive grapple , then grapple itself ,
the stretching power dose not do much just add a bit of very expensive range to reach in combat .
could it perhaps add some defensive grapple and grapple as well ,
or maybe something special attack which boosts grapple

i know you could buy boost brawn and say it applies to everything but strength and h/h damage but that seems 1neloquent

There was a gun control law though it specifically applied to concealed weapons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sullivan_Act The Thompson didn't fit under this law. Anyone could own one until 1934, when the National Firearms Act was introduced with the specific intent on controlling guns like the Thompson ("gangster weapons"). So the restrictive (*) designator can easily be applied depending on the setting of the game.

I play in a Masks of Nyarlathotep game and questions about the legality of firearms in the 1920's came up very early on. ;)
