Ooh, me likes.

So, if I'm reading the rules right, he's filled his skill slots already (what with Agility and Mind set at 2), so I won't bother adding slots (unless you think differently).

I like the titles for the powers. "Scent of Days Gone By", very nice. I could see that power complementing his tracking skill...

Sniff, sniff. "A bear went by two weeks ago. It was female. And pregnant. With two cubs." :D

It would have been nice to have at least given him Keen Sense: Hearing but it's not a deal-breaker.

Love the Mental Malfunction. Heh. :)

For some reason, I envision Kerbi being a polearm fighter. A glaive, perhaps, or, if the campaign has a Japanese feel, a naginata.

P.S. Oh, and by the way, how's my posting frequency? ;)

Yep, unless you want more skills, that's all he gets. To simplify things, would you be ok with dropping the specialties and just have the 4 broad skills roll at x3?

Making up names for powers is the fun part of the game :)

If you haven't read Clairvoyance yet, you have to roll a 30 to get basic info, every +10 over that gets you more info. You'll be rolling x4 for this power so you may be spending Hero Points to get a basic success at times. Just fyi. I'll be generous with with Hero Points.

I can reduce a power and add back in Keen Senses (Hearing) if you'd like. I think having two Keen Senses may overlap with regards to game mechanics quite a bit (ie You smell the bandit behind the tree, and hear him too!).

Oh, I like the polearm bit! I'll change the posted character to reflect that.

I was honestly laughing as I typed "I'm a dog". As to posting, yah, this has been great! But I won't hold you to daily postings so don't freak if you skip a day or two. I won't go all raging nerd on you :)

Sure. I got the impression you had to specify a Specialization when you chose a Skill, so that's why I included them.

No argument from me. :D

No worries. It seemed like more of a "GM plot device" power to me, which is A-OK.

You have a point there (was that another pun?). I was thinking more in terms of hearing high-frequency sounds (the old dog whistle!), but the powers already there are too good to mess with just to get that, so let's not worry about it.

There's an illustration from the 2nd edition of Victoriana which is perfect for Kerbi, but there's no credit for the author in the book and I can't find an online copy, so I'll probably scan it at some point and load it in.

There will be a point during the stories where Kerbi will interrupt his conversation to whirl around and say, "Squirrel!". You have been warned.

You are supposed to pick a specialization which allows you to reroll a skill check (which you did) but I think it makes things more streamlined in a pbp game to just have the extra multiplier and only roll once. We'll go with no specializations for now.

I'd love to see this pic of our noble canine hero!

Well, it looks to me like Kerbi is ready to roll. If you agree, I'll start a new post to get the game started and we'll keep this thread open for OOC questions and such, cool?

I'll update the character sheet to include Kerbi's name and remove the specializations.

That is great! Just bare in mind, most people will still treat you like a dog despite your obvious intelligence and gifts. On that note...

1) You can understand human and animal speech though you can only communicate with your master (a girl named Summer) and with animals (who usually don't have a lot to say beyond Mmmmm, grasssss).

2) Any time Summer gives you a command, I will roll her Suggestion power. If you wish to resist her command, you'll make a Will Defense roll. I don't expect you to resist all her commands, but you may find it necessary...

3) You will have a very weak empathic link to Summer that from time to time will reveal her emotions to you. It has no game mechanics, just a tool for the story.

I'm editing your Will Defense, it should be x4 due to Mind Shield. I'll get the game started with Chapter 1 on a seperate thread here in a bit!

Hey guys,

I'm enjoying your game, great job!

Have either of you ever read A Night In The Lonesome October, by Zelazny? If not, you might want to check it out, it is a great read, lots of fun, and has a somewhat similar feel to what you're playing.

Nope, I seem to have missed that one. I'm not a big fan of the Amber series, but have enjoyed other books by Zelazny.

Thanks! I'll make sure to check it out. :)

Glad you're enjoying it, I'm having a blast! I'll have to put that one in my reading que.

Hey Nestor, was "Thankee" an intentional Dark Tower reference? Just curious after the whole "By the White and The Red..."

I may have picked it up there for all I know.

I figured you've noticed by now I tend to pick up odd words like that to sprinkle in my conversations. :D

Oh, FYI, I'll be attending Gencon next week, starting on the 4th all the way to the 9th, so my posting frequency might be degraded during that time, possibly all the way down to one post a day. ;)

Would it be ok with you if we put a cap on the length of any particular combat; I'm thinking 5 complete rounds/pages then I'll wrap up the scene based on how the previous rounds have gone and move the story forward.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a plan.

Combat in a PbP game is always a tricky thing.
