The Elemental stands as still as a stone statue as the mayor speaks, half listening, half lost in his own thoughts. He longs to redeem himself but is terrified his past will come back to harm this new team.

He will simply have to be..."Vigilant," his gravely voice carries across the room, causing the party to look his way. "Sorry, I...yes Mayor, The Elemental will serve you," with more honor than he served his last master he hopes.

"I trust you won't ask us to wear tights. I find them problematic." Implying of course the rocky construct has tried to wear them at some point!

the mayor smiles at your comments and then looks at Ferret and Captain Max.

"Um... " Ferret rubs the back of his neck as he looks around out you all... 'Awww what the *, in for a penny, in for a dollar."

The Mayor seems to take that well. He turns to Captain Max expectantly.

Captain Max smiles a wide open grin and says "I would be honored Mr. Mayor!"

The Mayor claps his hands together and says, "Okay then. Let me get out of your hair. The base is yours, the security system manual is right here on the table. Everything in this place is at your disposal. If you have any questions contact me via the red phone on that wall."

With that, unless anyone stops him, he and his entourage makes their exit.

"You bet, Zero! I'm thinking the first thing we need to see is the basics, like is the system active now? I'd like to explore the place, but don't want to trigger anything in the process. Then, how do we put ourselves into its' access control list, and identify ourselves. Passwords, biometrics, it could be anything I suppose. Who knows what advanced technology the Centurions may have had access to. Or magic for that matter..."

The Elemental pretends to not hear Zero's query and walks with great thudding footsteps across the room, following after the Mayor. "Let me escort you out Master Mayor; who's to say that fiend will not make a second attempt on your life this evening?"

As you get close to the Mayor, Captain Max steps up to the mayor's side and smiles a pearly white one at you.

"No worries chum. I'll handle this. You can check things out with the others."

The mayor holds his hand up to you and says "Sure that's fine Captain Max, thank you Elemental. Good night."

With Max and the others gone, Ferret turns and groans. "That guy is gonna give me tooth decay."

He walks over to where the two are pouring over the manual and asks "So what's this place got?"

A quick scan of the manual gives you all the pass codes you need to activate the systems form the base.

The base itself is about a 10 story tall space needle type design and is hopeless stuck in the 70s for it's interior decor and over all technological appearance.

The room you are in is the very center of the top of the saucer section, which is the lounge, tastefully decorated in oranges, yellows and browns.

According the manual the roof can be retracted allowing flying members to enter and exit.

The security systems are mostly non-lethal, dealing with shockers, knock out gases and other things of that nature, but the gases are probably inert by now and the batteries on the shockers will need to be recharged.

There is a section of the manual called "Titan Mode" that appears to be missing and is only listed in the table of contents.

Ferret wanders away from the brainiac convention and hits the bar.

The Elemental stands next to the door, unsure of what to do next. He briefly turns into a gust of air and floats about the room then returns to his stony form, where he then begins pacing up and down a row of windows, staring out at the sleeping city below.

"Is this what we are to do now? Celebrate a minor victory with drinks the rest of the evening? Seal ourselves up in a tower until the evil that men do finds its way to our doorstep?!?"

Lost in his brief fit of emotion, The Elemental walks into a glass endtable, shattering it against his stone knee. He stops his tyrrade and looks sullenly at the broken shards.

"My apologies, I'm just not use to...being caged," he grumbles as he picks the fragments of the furniture from the floor.

"Interesting point, Zero. And I'd hardly say we've 'sealed ourselves in a tower', Elemental. We've only been here 5 minutes. But if you are itching for action that much, let's clean up that mess and then find the communications room or war room, or whatever they called it. These places always have something like that, right? Maybe we can scan the police frequencies, or find some other trouble for you to get into."

"You who's gonna lead this outfit?" Ferret says this from over the brim of his scotch on the rocks. "You know if we don't pick someone Captain Max is gonna insist it is him." He chuckles as he swirls his ice in the glass, "Lords knows if that happened it would drive me to drink."

"Hmmm. I hadn't thought about that." With a little shiver as he pictures that possibility, Tempest finds himself in uncharacteristic agreement with Ferret.

Thinking quickly, he goes over the options. Captain Max is right out. Ferret's got some experience, but... A quick glance at the hero at the bar derails that train of thought. Elemental, Numinous, Zero, me? Actually, Zero seems the most stable of the lot, but how would the public handle a machine as the leader?

"Maybe that's too soon to decide. First we need to figure how we work as a team. After all, we don't know each other that much. The reputation that the media gived us can't be our only touchstone.
I shall add the candidacy of The Elemental and I could be questionable. The public eye may be taken aback that the Centurions could be lead by an..."
He pauses. His voice betraying an imperceptible tone of regret.
"Artificial being"

"The first question that everyone should answer is : Can you imagine yourself at this position. Could you lead us?"
