The original Triad pics were more BASH-style, whereas these are more their own thing, I think.

From Juan Paolo: A really old villain who was originally part of a group led by Black Scorpion, The Claw was a cliched villain. I've made changes to his background to make him more viable than he was back in the day

I’m not sure if Tarantula is the guy I’m thinking of, but I remember a villain fighting Spider-Man who had long spikes (like those of your Scorpion character) on the ends of his boots. Cool concept name for this foe. I love the costume design for the Black Scorpion and the rendering for him is very good, however, the choice for the pose is a little uninspiring for the villain (he looks like someone just walking about, perhaps doing some shopping while downtown).

The illustration for the Claw is really good. Great pose and muscle definition! I’m looking forward to seeing more of these bad dudes.

Juan Paolo just sent me another commission he finished for me. This is Kamapua'a, a Hawaiian deity. I love adapting lesser known gods into supers. I feel Celtic, Egyptian, Greek and Norse have been done to death.
This guy has a cool back story, one of adventure, love and sorrow. Perfect fodder for a super, right?
Here is a site that tells his story. This is what sold me on him being an interesting character

Totally agree that we need more characters based on the less well-known legends. Plus in-between Disney's Moana and Pokemon Sun & Moon's Hawaii pastiche, the time seems ready for more Polynesian characters.

So I haven't share art here in awhile. Got a bunch of new stuff, and thought I'd share some composites I made. First up is the Black Ace Gang, a modern reimagining of a group Captain Marvel Jr. faced in the Golden Age. From left to right is Black Ace, Queen of Hearts, Jack of Diamonds & King of Clubs

This is LUNA, a mysterious organization. 3 of it's members claim to be Moon based deities from different cultures. The group was originally created by my friend Curt Fernlund, and our characters in his champions game fought them for awhile. He gave me permission to use them, so I've updated them, and added new characters (and replaced some older members). From left to right are Men (a lunar god of Anatolia), Artume (Etruscan moon goddess), Vampyre, Nightstalker, Cricket, Crater, Kaskuh (Hittite Moon God), and the average LUNA agent
