MrJupiter wrote:Thanks for posting more art. Mastermind has the makings of an interesting antagonist but I find that the image doesn’t quite jive properly with me. I think that it may be something in the colours selected for the character because when I view it in a grayscale format it seems fine to me.
As an actual comic character, I was going with his actual costume colors. Back then, certain colors didn't work right because techniques were limited back then compared to today. That's why a lot of golden age villains had gaudy looking costumes as opposed to today.
MrJupiter wrote: My initial thought of the Drac-Men are that the too closely resemble Doctor Dracula. At first glance I thought that it was another picture of the vampiric doctor. Maybe consider reducing the size of their wings a bit (to a half or a third the size) to more significantly indicate their inferior status to their master (unless they need them to fly or something, which would require a different approach).
They do need them to fly with. Richard did their visor differently to make them look different. In the final version, the colors are going to be slightly different (as one will be darker green than the other), but maybe I'll have him change the color of their costumes so they stand out more
MrJupiter wrote: The Mummy’s rendering is awesome and the green glow-effect looks really cool. The special mummy-wrap makes for a great super power concept that is very unique.
Yeah, you gotta love some of the origins for villains in Golden Age comics. Totally off the wall, but interesting
MrJupiter wrote: Aufseher, Ingvar Freyrson, and Sigrdrifa look like good sketches and I can’t wait to see further development on them. The inclusion of the spear-wielding god (or possibly a demi-god) is a great feature for the team.
I haven't fleshed out what he can do just yet. He is a god (or whatever Aesir/Vanir are), just a lesser one. He's stronger than humans, but isn't in Thor's league either. Sigrdrifa is the super strong one, so she'll be stronger than him. Aufseher is a minor super soldier, as he wasn't given the full treatment that another villain has (Ubermensch)
MrJupiter wrote: I really like the great styling for the Glare and Gloom pictures by artist Khairul Hisham (especially the pose and added detail put into Gloom).
Yeah, I wanted the detail on Gloom to make him stand out more. The colored version is even better :D
Excellent! I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Some new sketches from Joe Singleton. These are all low powered villains who augment their abilities with weapons and such.

First up, the gang banger known as Drive By:

The Yakuza Kumori:

Great characters. Judging from the masks, it looks like Drive-By, Yakuza Kumori, Brute, Killshot and Hatchet are all members of the same team. Combustion looks great! I like the way that the multiple fuel lines can be seen feeding what must be flame-throwers at his knuckles. Great idea!

Yes they are. I obviously forgot to mention that when I posted them lol. The original concept was a group of mafia enforcers/hitmen from the 5 families recruited into a special union to battle masked vigilantes who were fighting the mafia families. This was for Dark Champions way long ago. I found my original write up of them, and decided to modernize them. Instead of all being mafia members, the group is now made up of members from different criminal groups. So Brute is Russian Mafia, Killshot is regular Mafia, Drive By was a gang banger, Hatchet was in the Triads, and Kumori was a Yakuza. They're led by an ex-freelance Assassin who goes by the name "The Fixer".

Combustion actually fires explosive mini-missiles from those tubes, not fire, but I can see how they'd be mistaken for flame throwers

Having the different crime syndicates pool their talent into a single strike team is a cool background idea. Also, thanks for the correction on the mini-missiles. Are those tubes the ammo feeder systems for launchers?

Yes, the tubes are ammo feeders. I was watching Avengers Assemble when I got the idea for the character, and watching Iron Man fire micro missiles at someone gave me the idea of what it must be like if he made those back when he first made his armor.

New piece from Dan Houser. This is Frostbite, ice using villain. He's partnered with his sister, who goes by the name Sunburn.
