Here's a piece I did for Dragonfly, Thunderbird! Got to do a little research on Pacific Northwest Native American artistry for this one. Hopefully we'll see some BASH stats for him one day, rumor has it he could appear in an adventure at some point...

Hey Dustland!

I love the work you did on Thunderbird! It really made the character come together in my head. I'm currently working on the supplement that features him (and his pals). It's being designed for SUPERS! by Simon Washbourne right now, but the plan all along has been to also petition BASHMAN to see if he'd like to see a BASH UE version as well. (Hey BASHMAN! :) )

Once summer arrives, I should be more of a presence around here again. I was working on converting all of my BASH UE Marvel write-ups to SUPERS!, and now that I'm caught up I plan to do write-ups for both games simultaneously.

Anyway, thanks again for your work on Thunderbird, Dustland. Great stuff!

Best,

Dragonfly

Nice work!

I can't even draw stick figures so I really admire someone who can take an image from their imagination and make it come alive.

Thanks Cap, Dragonfly really made this illustration easy by having a pretty strong image of what he wanted when he came to me.

Here's a quick pic I knocked out for a suppplement I'm working on. Not my normal style, but drawing like this is fast and easy so it worked out for my needs.

So here's Iron Cross!

Dustland! Your Thunderbird rendering is awesome. It looks like something that could have been a strong illustration from a product like Mutants & Masterminds. Very high quality. The colours are very vibrant and fit well together. You pulled off the lightning bolt amazingly well.

Have you ever tried using darker and lighter variations of a colour to try to evoke areas in shadow and light? I"ve seen other artist use it to acheive an even deeper sense of depth to a character.

Also, your Iron Cross (while not my favorite style of art) is very well done. You really managed to use just enough detail to capture the character (example: just a hint at the abs under the character's right arm rather than using light grey lines to draw them in). Very good!

Thanks Mr Jupiter!

I have used different shades of the same color like you suggested in other pieces (Gold Rush is the most recent). I've kind of developed a taste for solid, strong colors so I tend to go that direction though. I could certainly do it again if a patron asks, it's just not my preference.

As to Iron Cross, I have mixed feelings about going this route for my book. It's quick and easy and I have to admit, a lot of people like this style, but it's not really mine. On the other hand, I need to wrap up this particular project so it doesn't overlap with upcoming commissions. Decisions decisions :)

Thanks again!

I definately agree about the effect solid colours have on the image's sharpness. It reminds me of late-70's and early -80's Marvel art, with shadows being represented with solid black inking.

A villain book with this kind of quality art would sell really well!

Had a lot of time in the car this weekend, so I was wondering what the Masters of the Universe would look like if they were modern day superheroes. That led to these, enjoy!

Thanks, he's my favorite too. I'd thought about giving him red head gear like gambit's, but after I saw the term "head condom" to describe the look, I decided to leave him all black :)

Sheesh, I don't recognize any of these guys! I'm pretty sure I watched a lot of the cartoons in my younger days. Cool interpretations - especially Orko! His pose and colours look great! The energy 'bubbles' look fantastic!

Oh come one, you don't remember Ram-Man?!?! :) Fisto's an obscure MotU character but Orko and Ram-Man where 1st tier brother!

These are pretty far off the original characters, I'll admit. Just wait until I get around to Skeletor...

Holy crap! Just searched out a characer wiki for the show. Orko was a good guy! I forgot that he was the little wizard-looking guy. My memory is uselss.

Looking at Ram-Man and Fisto's pictures don't ring any bells for me though.

I never realized that the show had 3 other series runs in '89, '02, and '08! That's pretty cool.

'83-'85 for me! I was suprised too to see how many times they've reintroduced the cartoon. Hopefully it'll come back around in another 4-5 years so I can watch it with my (soon to be joining us) son!
