Hey guys,
I hope this isn't a dumb question. I want to make a character with Earth Control who came make walls of stone. What do I use to do this? Do I simply use Earth Mastery? If so, would an Earth Mastery 3 allow him to make walls that you need a 30 Brawn check to punch through?
Do I need another power to do this instead? Say a Force Field with the Limitation: Stationary or Wall Doesn't Move with Character?
I picture this a relevant question for characters like Ice Man, who makes walls of ice, etc.
Best,
Dragonfly

Force fields don't move with you unless you center it on yourself. You can choose to set in anywhere else.
You can do this with Force Field, using the Arc area of effect and range.
You could also do it with Earth Mastery- but in that case, you are using the Collateral Damage chart to determine how many Hits & Soak of the wall.
HOWEVER- as it says- X mastery takes some time to do. How long might it take to build that wall? Let's say 1 minute. Then consider that each page of combat is appropriately 1 second of time.
Of course, you CAN use X-Mastery to mimic a Force Field as a Power Trick for 1 Hero Point- and then you can choose to do it slow, big, & steady or fast & loose. See BAM! #5 for information on Power Tricks.
The new printing has them as a default rule now for X-Mastery, Gadgeteer, and Grimoire.
