I have seen other topics on this but none answered the question I have. In reading immobilization I dont see any text that indicates that the user needs to target an enemy or that the enemy gets any resist so I made the following assumptions.
If I spend 3 points in this power and I dedicate 1 point for range and 2 for the strength of the power I am assuming I need to roll Agility to hit and the target gets a physical defense against since it is a physical manifestation.
If I spend 3 points in this power and I dedicate 1 point for Area and 2 for the strength of the power I am not sure how to handle it. Based on the rules for area effect powers depending on what the target's defense roll is they will suffer from 0%->33%->50%->100% of the effect of the power. Does this mean that I apply these percentages to the strength of the immobilization?
Or does this power affect you automatically and then you simply need to break out of it? I suspect this isnt the case since Daze (the mental version of this ability) requires you to attack the target and they get a resist vs Mind.

Immobilization is an attack that uses Agility to Hit and the opponent uses their Defense to avoid.
Against a Burst or Cone Immobilization the difficulty to Escape is still modified by the Defense roll. Instead, according to the Rules as written, the attacker rolls one Attack roll for the Immobilization attack. Everyone caught in the Area rolls their own seperate Defense roll against it.
See page 39, bottom right.
