Go see Dark Knight Rises
This is just a sequel to my earlier "Go see the Avengers" post.....didn't want anyone to think I'm just a Marvel-head
Just got back from the movie and while it was well-made (yes, better than the Avengers in some regards), it was not nearly as entertaining.
Of course the 2 films have different tones and personally I prefer the lighter tone of the Avengers.
Anyway, recommended viewing for all.
PS- sad to say, I did keep an eye on the exits...and had a "escape plan" in the back of my mind while at the theater. A crazy world we live in...but it's the only one we've got.

Well, sadly (?) for me anyway this film gets worse the more I think about it. Though is shouldn't be surprised, I've seen all Nolan's films and have enjoyed them all, but for me every one is a "single view film". Despite their merits, I've no interest in seeing them again.
By the way this is a list I saw of the upcoming 2013 comic-book related films:
Man of Steel
X-Men Origins: Magneto
The Wolverine
Iron Man 3
Thor 2

I liked Batman Begins but I don't think The Dark Knight lived up to the hype. It was good (although I don't understand why Gotham looks totally different) but it wasn't as good as the first one IMO. I haven't had a chance to see the last one yet. I think Inception was better than the Batman films, but that's just me.

Well I read a review which unfortunately contained a fair few spoilers so I will probably wait for the DVD. I still think that Nolan's take on Batman has been fantastic overall. They have really raised the bar as far as superhero movies are concerned.
Hope that it's Michael Fassbender in the Magneto prequel

I liked it too. When asked which was better, the Tobey Maguire original or Andrew Garfield's film, I say I can't decide.fairytalejedi wrote:I enjoyed the latest Spider-Man flick. I thought Martin Sheen and Sally Field made the origin story watchable. If you're going to rehash the origin, get the best talent you can find, and they did.
Plus, Andrew Garfield is a lot cuter than Tobey Maguire.
The first one felt more like a 1960s comic book. It had that sense of wonder and fun about it. I prefer elements of the second one, like the fact that Peter stays a teen throughout the first movie, that we get to see Gwen Stacey, that Captain Stacey is so well played, that we get gadget webshooters, that Flash Thompson is more true to the comics, that Salley Field and Martin Sheen were so good, that Peter is more of a wisecracker - BUT, it was so much darker than the first movie. So - although the details were closer to what I wanted out of a Spider-Man film, the tone of the first was more to my liking. This one felt more like the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, which is not a bad thing - just not my preference.
I'm gonna see Dark Knight Rises in about 1 hour. I'm looking forward it. Nothing, however, will probably hit the superhero sweetspot that The Avengers managed to hit for me, though - except, perhaps for Avengers 2, and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes).
Cheers!

Agreed about Avengers, nothing else has hit that sweet spot so well. The combination of some serious with some humorous was done so well. I hope they repeat it when they do the next movies. Iron Man franchise has done this pretty well too. Maybe add a little to Thor, but I think Captain America movie was about right too. Not sure how Ant Man is going to be, but it seems you need some good humor added for the concept.

I'm watching Spiderman 2 while I grill out on the deck....still one of my favorites. The arms being intelligent was brilliant.
I wonder how many like the current Spiderman "better" because it is newer, and we tend to like what we just saw. If both movies came out at the same time which would you like better?
Of course, don't get me started on my dissappointment with Spiderman 3.
Now we just need the first BASH movie....
SPOILERS BELOW
Kind of interesting that both Spiderman 2 and Dark Knight Rising have plot elements of "nuclear fusion" ,"quitting being a hero", and
"financial hardship".

I think you hit the point why a number may be seeing this new reboot in a better light; to wash the memory of Spider-Man 3 out of their heads.capmarvel wrote: I wonder how many like the current Spiderman "better" because it is newer, and we tend to like what we just saw.
