Here's an image for a pet project I'm putting a proposal together for. This is a Jotun Emberlord, one of a dozen or so Norse inspired monsters (heavily bastardized for all you Norse buffs out there) I'm hoping to put into a monster folio. Barbarians of Lemuria has me inspired to do some gritty fantasy pieces (as well as Urbwar's dragonmen which I hope see the light of day!)

Guess I need to by a copy of Legends of Steel and see if Bashman will let me release them for his game...

Ooh and kudos to you if you know what the rune behind the Emberlord means!

Isn't that the rune for Harvest?

As far as I'm concerned, yes.

That's an awesome picture of Emberlord, Dustland! Is the red on the left arm natural or painted coloring/pigment or is it the blood of some unfortunate victim?

Great question! I actually forgot to finish the arm :) The description of the Emberlord is that he has glass-like skin and molten blood, so I will probably have the red area actually glowing if the project gets approved and I finish him up.

The monster is also a skilled sorcerer so I may have a glowing rune there instead, but I'm not going to spend more time on it unless the creator of BoL gives me the greenlight.

Oh yah, if anyone plays BoL and wants a 2 page pdf writeup on him, let me know!

Well I can't get the green light to work on my Norse monster folio (can't get a hold of the BoL author) so I'll go ahead and share another of the foes with you guys.

This is my take on the Huldra, a seductive hollow woman with the tail of a fox and powerful sorceress.
This is my second take on her, the original was a bit too risque :)

Enjoy!

Well, I got the approval to work on my Nordic monster folio, so I'm slaving away at the illustrations. Thought I'd share another one of the fiends with you, a Jotun Earthbreaker. Hope you like 'em!

Why thanks. I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve. Every illustration I get to work on teaches me something.

It's unfortunate that loading pics to photobucket seem to make some of these pics a tad blurry. Oh well, shouldn't have the problem when they are inserted into the pdf.

Here's my take on the Berserker. I finished up a few others this week too (there'll be ten in all). One is definitely pg-13, may have to do some editing on her...

Anywho, here's something to rip your face off. Enjoy!
