Wonder Woman!
Here's an official photo of the new Wonder Woman. Honestly, I have to say that for a TV superhero show, I think this costume looks pretty great, but I'm expecting piles and piles of hate for it for all the reasons that fire up nerdrage.

Some of the comments on the EW forum said that it looks like a costume shop costume also. But you know what? That can't really be helped; why do you think such costumes exist? Because they're supposed to look like superhero costumes.
But I understand you're specifically talking about the material. If they didn't go this route (which seems more "glam" to fit the common perception of the character), they would have likely had to do the leather thing, which I honestly think would have looked worse. Only so many skintight fabric options!
The article mentions the boot color specifically: they wanted to remove any of the old specifically American references in the costume and change it up. I like them blue, because, despite what I said above, I think it would have looked a bit campy with the red boots and they said the show is going to be non-campy (which I am both thrilled by and assuming will be the kiss of death for it).

The costume took me a minute to get used to, but I like it. While it does have that Halloween costume shine to it, I remember watching the original Wonder Woman, Batman, and Incredible Hulk tv shows as well as the Spiderman tv movies that were made. Those costumes were on par with most Con costumes seen today and as a kid, I loved them!
I'm really hoping WW does well and gets a following. Seems like little girls could use a superhero role model since the boys already have so many.

I really don't see how shiny blue boots are any less camp than red ones. I can only assume there was some practical film-making reason they went this way as they look ugly to me, they really need something to break the color up.
Well, this series isn't being aimed at me, and I agree that it's time younger girls got better acknowledgement from the comics guys.
That said I still think it's a shame that something specifically for adults hasn't been considered. An HBO version of Wild Cards would allow me to die happy.............

it's not too bad thought all in all. Much better than other costume designs that think black is the only color in the world. As for the actress playing her, she does look the part.I'm assuming that trying to avoid the patroitism of the costume also means that the origin of her finding the american flag on the shore of amazon island along with the Trevor guy will also be ommited.

Interesting thought I just read. (First, I re-iterate that I like the costume and don't care about the shiny or the blue boots.)
On another site, someone flat out asserted that the image wasn't real at all; that it was merely a photoshop creation to test public responses.
For your consideration. FWIW, on all the forums I've raed about this, comic book fans have generally been cautiously supportive, while non-supers fans have mocked it mercilessly.
If it is true that this is only a test image, we can expect it to change. But I'd be happy with it as is.

I reserve my opinion until I have seen a few other pictures under different lighting. Right now it looks too shiny and campy. But like I said, it could be lighting.
That being said, I don't have much hope for the show.
I feel quite the opposite, as an Amazonian warrior, it would have made sense for her to wear something that provided actual protection. And wouldn't have looked too bad, just look at what this fan poster for a movie looks like:If they didn't go this route (which seems more "glam" to fit the common perception of the character), they would have likely had to do the leather thing, which I honestly think would have looked worse.

That's cool, I don't want to kill your buzz.I'm over 40 and I'm pretty sure the show is being aimed at me just fine.
For the sake of honesty, I actually thought the Birds of Prey tv series was disturbingly watchable, and that wasn't aimed at me either (well except for all the hot chicks). So I will, reluctantly, give WW a go I guess.
And call me backwards, but I would have preferred Wonder Woman to run around in the bikini, armor plated or otherwise.
