Well remember the players have resources to burn to fudge the dice rolls themselves. Wasp rolled a 7 Soak. But she has 30 Hero Points. Looks like it's time to start cashing them in. In her case it would probably be cheaper to beef up her defense roll so the attack missed in the first place (taking 0 damage). 5 for a Hero die, and then spend more for Result Bonus as needed.
Of course, if she's out of Hero Points, she's essentially burned through her "plot immunity"

This is a topic I've been mulling over in my head for a while now. I'm somewhat new to BASH and do not have the level of mastery over the system that I would like quite yet. I have two different settings that I'm working on (okay, three) and they are on different ends of the comic trope spectrum. One easily falls into the default role that BASH is made for. The other is more akin to Watchmen in its feel and level of "realism". Originally, I was curious if lowering the number of hits was something that might work to better emulate that.
After some testing though, I believe the 100 hits work perfectly regardless. Things like Lethal Weapons, Soak, Armor, and the like play into how vulnerable someone is to certain attacks. Hero Dice and Points play a huge role in this as well. As was mentioned by Chris, Wasp can/should spend Hero Points/Dice to make sure she never gets hit. It's when she's out of points that things can turn grim if you're playing for keeps.
I'm looking forward to doing some more tests. Loving this game!

For a gritty watchmen style game, be sure to use the "Fixed Soak" rules, and limit characters to a max stat of 2. A gun or a knife suddenly becomes serious business.
I used these same rules options to make this module:
Five Minutes to Midnight which is now on sale, btw!

Also thanks for not being childish about why I should love comics or superheroes for whatever reason, or not, as others have in thread. I definitely wasn't criticizing you or the game, or it's four-color roots. The game rocks (as I did say in my post).
BTW My favorite comic ever is Walt Simonson's run on Thor, for what it's worth.
I'm not going to bite any of the obvious troll-bait in this thread, except to say I play my games my way, I really don't need advice as to why I'm wrong, thank you very much.
I'll buy this module right away.
