BASHMAN! did an awesome combat example back in the day:
http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=521609
I was wondering if there was anything similar but using Minions under Gang Rules as I'm having a hard time keeping track of how to do it.
I'm not overly sure I get the example as it states on page 68:
Every 5 s/he was hit by is an additional minion that succeeded
However, the whole counting down in 5's by the gangs attack doesn't seem right.
The example has the Hero rolling 22 on defence of the Minions combined 29.
The 29 is 7 more than 22 so I would have presumed that it was 1 hit. (or perhaps 1 hit + a bonus, ie 22+5 is 27, the minions hit for 29, give them a +2 to end result)
Yet the way of doing it is counting backwards from the 29 and including it. 29, 24 equalling 2 hits.
Now I can work this out, but I'm not sure why it's done this way as the rest of the book is always written in the favour of the Hero. Am I missing something?
The bit I can't work out, and I'm going to blame lack of sleep by 2 kids under the age of 3 for this*, is the following, also on page 68:
This results in a +1 bonus to damage (2 hits -1 = 1)
I'm not sure how that comes about.
Anyway, any examples etc would be appreciated.
*I note the irony of a grown man blaming his children for his lack of being able to do the simple mathematics of a system designed to be played with young children to try and help them with mathematics.

that makes sense, I get it.
I must have thought it would have been a full 5 points, i.e if they had to match or beat your defence they would hit at:
22 one person hits
27 two person hits
32 three etc
but your way seems best anyway.
I'm still having difficulties with the second part of my question
This results in a +1 bonus to damage (2 hits -1 = 1)
I'm not sure how that comes about.
but I'm sure sleep will help me look at in a new light.
