I think I might wait for some feedback (and have emailed BASHMAN! to see if he'll move this to the General Discussion board where it belongs ) and see if anyone would be kind enough to jot up the points before I work out defence/attack, how far they can jump, run etc...

or I might just keep jotting ideas down!

BASHMAN! once agreed that super jump at 2 points, with flight 2 being a lot better might warrant it being a one point power. I was wondering what others think about this (as it would affect one of my characters).

I was thinking of doing this too as it would allow the teleporter/agile hero:
Telepath 3
Limitation: only affects X where X is a copy of iteself.
Limitation: always on

for one point, which would keep with the fact that all copies should have it (villains too) and would keep the build at 25points

Any ideas for a villain copy?

I'm going to use the wild warrior template for a feral version (with slight modification) but I want some sort of real evil copy.

Also a couple of instances where there will be minions.

I was thinking of making the evil copy someone with duplication - a very unstable copy, perhaps as a twist the true Alpha copy that's gone CRaZy or the last copy that can't quite fully duplicate itself any more that's just CRaZy.

It would solve the minion problem (I want some mooks for my players to hit).

(I was also thinking of how if I emphasis called shots as stunts and have a few more minions I've basically got a good substitute for a Feng Shui: Action Move RPG but with supers here - why that hasn't really occurred to me before I don't know)

So here are the 3 versions of Sally Albright so far:

A - the Mass Shifting Woman (she wont like to be called that)
B - the Agile Teleporter (that needs a new name)
C - Multiple Madam (that also needs a new name) EVIL

Currently need to think of a * power/way of disrupting Sally A's Ghost Form but with keeping with the Multiple Madam's power suite.

And I'm *reallly* hoping someone can check over the build costs for me!

Sally Albright (A)

Pre Power stats/skills etc are shared by all copies

DEF x2
MND DEF x2

Didn't have time to go over the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure you can't put more than one Limitation on a power.

Just double checked. You can have more than one limitation but you only get get a -1 to the build cost, doesn't matter how many limitations you have.

Blah, will have to redo the whole build costs...

Sally Albright

Sally was just an unassuming computer programmer working front end for a R&D Firm when the explosion happened. Whatever the lab coats must were working on before the accident must have been very volatile as there was nothing left of the building when the smoke settled, just a large crater and no survivors, well except Sally. And Sally. And Sally.

INFO:

These are character created for a one shot for two players. The idea being that the players will get pre gens of Sally A and B without knowing they are copies before the game starts. Sally will have survived the blast thinking she is the only survivor, it's only a little later will she realise that she's acquired strange powers and isn't the only one. Except...in some ways she is.

The story will involve finding out what the company were working on (and thanks to BASHMAN!, if the game is more than a one shot could lead to a big game), tracking down any other clones and deciding what to do with them, especially if they are evil... (and whether or not to try and reunite if possible with all the the other copies or forge lives for themselves.

Each copy will have gained a slightly different personality (they'll be played by different people after all).

All of their mental hang ups will be: to reunite with one another (good), to destroy all other copies (if they are bad)

So here are the 3 versions of Sally Albright so far:

A - the Mass Shifting Woman (she wont like to be called that)
B - the Agile Teleporter (that needs a new name)
C - Multiple Madam (that also needs a new name) EVIL

well that was mighty long, but should work out a little better cost wise. Keeping two limitations as they all have them and it works for the characters (as far as I can see it only affects telepathy anyway).

posted it one rpg.net too to see if I get any feedback there.

I might try and run this game tonight, although the stats might be a bit off. The following is quite long but I thought I'd post it for anyone who cares to read it. Any thoughts/comments/constructive criticism would be great.

Mrs Whiskers - A One Shot Super Powered Game

Pregen Background for copies

You led a good but unassuming life as a computer programmer working front end for a major R&D Corporation when the accident happened. Someone in a white coat must have been working on something volatile, because when the dust from the explsoion settled there was nothing left except a two mile crater that had destroyed everything and everyone. Everyone that is except you.

You awoke in rubble, seemingly unhurt but you felt heavy and as if a hundred voices in your head where whispering all at once; dazed and confused you walked the long walk from ground zero to your home several miles outside the blast range away.

You don't know how long it took you, at times you seemed to airily drift homewards, at other times you felt you had to drag yourself home.

Finally, after many hours you managed to reach home, open the door and crawl to your bed. It would be three days later you would awake again, fall through the bed, the ceiling and the sofa, finally landing with an almighty crash in the cellar.

Over the next few hours at home you discovered you had gained strange and volitile new abiliites and that you hair had gone from blonde to black and white streaks!

You now can change your mass from an atomised version of yourself, invisible to the naked eye and able to float anywhere and through anything. On the flipside to this you can increase your mass to a state so intense in its density that you can only be reminded of something called Dark Matter.

You are confused about what has happened, but first you have to clear your head with some coffee. You remember you haven't fed your cat Mrs Whiskers in several days when the front door starts opening with a key - but you live alone, except for the company you keep with your cat...

You remember the explosion, it went through you, forcing you back BAMPH! You found yourself outside of the building BAMPH! You found yourself a few miles up in the air BAMPH! You found yourself...on top of a construction site in an unknown city.

You lost your footing but it would be for the last time as you instinctively swung, jumped and span around the girders and scaffolding like a teleporting ninja monkey.

You realized that your new found abilities sometimes failed you but where one failed another compensated. On the ground your realised just how far away from home you were. Shocked and worried about Mrs Whiskers, your cat, you decided to get home as fast as possible by impossible means - half mile jumps and teleportations!

After 3 days and an accidental detour around the Andes you arrived home and noticed for the first time your hair had turned from blonde to dark purple...You put your key in the door...

You led a good but unassuming life as a computer programmer...

The explosion blew you into 10 identical copies that quickly reformed into one being and split again. You felt the inner need to seperate into others permantly but couldn't, you were all seperate and at the same time the same being. And why did they all have red hair? What happened to your beautiful blonde hair? It made you quite mad.

Although you gained the ability to make multiple copies of yourself the toll on your mind was quite severe and you became quite insane. With your new found abilites you decided to make everyone pay for what had happened to you, it didn't matter if they had anything do with your condition or not. Noticing that there were other copies of yourself who had managed to seperate properly you decided to hunt them down in rage and destroy them all. Some of the copies were easy to defeat, some more elusive. You would need to get their attention...Although evil you realise you miss your cat, Mrs Whiskers terribly.

You led a good but unassuming life as a computer programmer...

(using wild warrior template)
The explosion didn't kill you but it destroyed nearly all semblance the humanity you once possessed. You gained superhuman strength and agility and revelled in your new animalistic existence, it reminds you of something from another life, like that of a cat or something... You found a cave in the crater and you slept there and it was peaceful. Occasionally you could hear copies of yourself in your mind, this made you happy as they were easy to find and you had a new found respect for the taste of human flesh.

You led a good but unassuming life as a computer programmer...

You were killed in the explosion. MWAHAHHAHAH. You arose again. MWHAHAHAHHA You found you had the power to raise all the dead scientists and make them your loyal slaves. MWAHAHAHHA. With your new army of zombies you would take over the world and claim it as your own! MWAHAH-wait, what was that? Oh dear... You found yourself being eaten by a feral version of yourself, it was most unpleasant. Who would look after all the zombies now? And who would feed Mrs Whiskers?

Mrs Whiskers

The last thought that Sally Albright had before the explosion was of her beloved cat, Mrs Whiskers. It is imprinted on her mind and can be used to sedate any copy of herself. Anyone can "weaponise" the cat against a copy of Sally as a x5 Weaken power simply by picking it up and talking about how much she loves it. If Sally herself uses it against another copy she must roll a 4/5/6 on a dice or else the weaken effect also affects her. On a roll of 3 it backfires and only affects her.

Things to do in the one shot

The two players will start the session in the same house. How they react to one another will be the first part of the session.

They can try and feed the cat - this will spark the weaken power to begin with, though it will wear out after awhile (3 panels).

Turn on the TV: The TV channels are all News. The explosion at the R&D labs created a crater two miles in circumfrance and on one is thought to have survived, no one knows as yet exactly what happened.

It warns people to stay away from the area as although there has been no known contaminate there are reports of people going missing who have gone to close.

The news will go on to say that there has bben a crime wave seemingly as a direct result of the explosion with crooks taking advantage of the resulting chaos.

Police are particularly wanting to question R&D employee (who mustn't have been in work that day obviously! ;)) Sally Albright who is wanted with several robberies (this will be the duplicator copy).

If they dither they will be attack by the CraZy wife (gadgets in tow, use 20 pt pregen hero out of the book) of a deceased R&D white coat who saw "Sally" on the news and tings she must have had something to do with the explosion that killed her husband. She has no qualms about attacking Sally, especially if she sees two of them or any powers and will use several prototype weapons.

If the Sally's go to Ground Zero they will find: Several Zombies in R&D white coats.

They are also likely to encounter a feral version of themslves who will try to eat them. On defeating her they will the bodies of several other copies in the cave. If they decide to kill her they will find themselves with 3 setback points as they try to live with the guilt of killing themselves...

The defeated feral, or a research document from a zombie will indicate that one of the copies is an ALPHA copy, that has the ability to bring all other copies into itself. (this is beyond the scope of the one shot).

In the town centre is Multiplying Sally causing mischief, she is more than happy to attack the players as she wants to destroy all copies. Armed police will arrive after 6 panels or so and will open fire depending on the actions of the players.

I think this thread in particular has become a lesson in how not to design a one shot, but on the other hand I'm learning a lot just by going other things and looking back at what went right and what went wrong.

I am currently trying to condense the main three characters of the one shot i.e the 3 main Sally Albrights.

Might be a little easier to read - though I'm now certain the build costs are wrong, they should more than suffice for a one shot game.
