BAM! Fanzine Factory - volunteer to write for BAM!

That was just a very very quick fix to show what I was talking about. My question and idea is ... IF we cannot use full images from builders, can we make characters with a character builder (like Farica_x), then make that type of change to use them in a publication?

If I were doing this for a villain book, I'd take more care and make the "prison card" and the background look a little more authentic as well as making the hands fit the character better.

That said. Simple change, for a cool effect to show an number of villains I think.

Even though you edited that image, it would not be legal to use. Although this is fan created, it is being supported by a reputable company (Basic Action Games). You are using Third party software to create those images and even though edited, they still contain proprietary coding.

Besides what message are you trying to convey, the Fan Society supporting BASH has plenty of talented writers but no artists? Also, everyone playing supers games and on the net will recognize it for what it is, some one didn't think enough of the Magazine to commission ORGINAL artwork and thus did the Five Minute Fabrica Fix.

Here are some alternatives to Fabrica
-->Ask artists on various boards who are fans of the game to contribute to the fan community (Wayfinder magazine is a perfect example of this).
--> Take up a small collection (50 cents from a bunch of folks via paypal) and fund buying an artpack. Instant original art on the cheap. By doing this you are turning fan supported into ransom supported but the end result is that the magazine itself becomes a free download
-->Ask artists who have posted art in the past if they can use it for the fan created magazine (and credit the artist)
--> With the availability of google translate, contact the creator of Fabrica and ask for permission to use his program for the magazine.

Let me be clear in that I am not Bashing (get it... Bashing... never mind) Fabrica de Herois. I love the program, and regularly support it through donations. I don't think it is the right way to go as far as BASH goes. Plus, do we really want to open up Chris to legal action as his magazine would have copyrighted material (the code used to create the images) used without permission?

I generally take much more than 5 minutes at constructing fabrica characters (chuckle, chuckle… no seriously, three quarters of an hour or more! But I’m generally slow with everything). Seriously though, we do have a ton of great artists here at the BASH forum. It would be cool to present some of their work in the magazine: as issue dressing, suitable article placement, or maybe even in a fan pic spotlight.

There are a lot of great ideas there. I definitely like the idea of “ransom supporting” BAM! This magazine is one of the best ways to promote the ultimate edition of BASH! (or the Fantasy & Sci-Fi editions, too). The support that this magazine offers in terms of both quality subject matter and awesome visuals helps to elevate the appeal of this great game. The fact that it would offer all this to the ‘buyer’ for FREE is something that would sway potential buyers into becoming actual BASH owners.

Most people wouldn’t be able to donate a whole lot to the cause; but the collective $$$ would be more substantial. Maybe each BAM could list the donors in the credits as a nice thank-you.

Logistically, though, I would think that the best person to trust our financial offerings to would be BASHMAN himself (if you don’t mind me nominating your name, sir - because we trust that you will be around tomorrow). He could post a target figure on the forum here for the consignment pieces, and post the progress. Paypal or Kickstarter are two options for doing this (with Kickstarter being even more secure as no money goes out until the target commitment has been achieved).
