Heh. Nestor sums up my point far more succinctly than I was able to manage.
And since I was the one primarily responsible for the topic drift, I'd happily get back on topic again if anyone wants.

[RE: GoT] I have read the novels, and whatever producer said that did a huge disservice to it; that's not at all the focus.drkrash wrote:any interest I might have had was lost when another statement from the producers ruined it for me: "It's like LotR, except the characters actually get horny." Fail.

And in the interest of veering back on the topic path...
I've still not had a chance to watch the show, so I'll ask the assembled, how "super" is it?
I mean, from what I've seen in the ads, it seems more of a "Mystery Man" level than true capes-and-tights (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Yeah, that's basically accurate. But the "super" comes from the suspension of disbelief in the training levels and feats of these characters. And while not adequately explained yet, there is something superpowered about the cape itself.
But so far, no flying, no energy blasts...and nothing at all in the established mythology so far to suggest we'll be seeing that.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I LOVE LoTR, and I have no problem with chaste sensibilities. I also, however, don't have a problem with less-than-chaste sensibilites. As long as it's well done, I'm pretty much willing to watch anything.drkrash wrote:Sorry. I LIKE chaste sensibilities. Despite the content in some of the gaming material I've published, I'm rather fond of chastity, in both fiction and especially RL. No offense intended for anyone who is an RR Martin fan.

Yeah, pretty much Mystery Man level, but then again so is Batman in his own comic, for the most part. Isn't there a kind of fire-powered guy in some of the art they use for the openning sequence? I'm wondering if that's a sign of things to come?drkrash wrote:Yeah, that's basically accurate.
