Hi, people...working three jobs and blogging as much as I can these days, meaning I haven't been around, like, at all...but I did post my full review of BASH UE (which will make its rounds to other sites in coming weeks).

Thanks!
I have been in love with BASH since I got UE back in...February? I did a short review for RPGnow months ago, before my blog got into full swing, but I *needed* to get this full review done this week for a reason that will become apparent after the holidays...(for those that pay attention to my blog).

Thanks for the review Tommy. I should say though about Mental malfunction- it isn't necessarily meant to be your character's Motivation (but a number of people use it that way though).
It is there in place of "mental disads". So if a character has a phobia, that would be a Mental malfunction too- even though it isn't the reason they became a superhero.
For instance, one of my favorite shows was the CN Teen Titans cartoon. Their mental Malfunctions had little to do with their motivations though (except Robin). Beast Boy was a constant joker who was hard to take seriously. Cyborg brooded over wanting to be "normal" again. Raven was moody and emotionally detached. Starfire was just naive in general. all those would be considered mental malfunctions and aren't related to motivation.
Hope that helps, and thanks again! If you do any more BASH! product reviews, please keep us posted.

Thanks for the clarification on Mental Malfunction, Chris. I do have to say, though, that answer doesn't immediately jibe with the question "What drives this character to put on a costume and risk life and limb?"
Given that was text from the book, I can see how a lot of folks (myself included) go straight to the "motivation" answer for it...=)

You are right- I can see how it would give that impression. I intended that to simply be an example though of an easy way to do it, not the only way. The full sentence said "An easy way to come up with an answer is to think “what drives this character to put on a costume and risk life and limb?” So it may have seemed too much emphasis was on that being the only type of mental malfunction.
I did mention that "amnesia" could be a possible Mental Malfunction though. I should have mentioned some more examples besides that for "non-motive" types, especially for Villains. Some of those guys are just crazy.
