Wrestling - Restrain Them

Post by Saker »

I'm trying to use this in the PbP game.

Do I have to specify what actions that I'm restraining? Either Move or Attack?

I interpreted this game mechanic as equivalent to a pin: restraining everything with the option to prevent them from speaking. The Restrained / pinned victim would have to overcome the Restrain Them / Pin action; then overcome the initial grab, in order to fully escape the grab.

Please clarify. Thanks in advance.

cheers

PS Dustland, please don't take offense at asking the board for a ruling. Whatever you decide will go, of course. I was just hoping to get Bashman to clarify intent.

You need to specify what you are trying to restrain. So when you restrain, you pick to restrain their mouth or their use of a weapon, or their arm, etc- not everything.

Is there a "pin" game mechanic, where you prevent them from doing anything but trying to escape the pin?

There is the immobilization power, that does that (for physical pins) and the daze (for mental attacks)

No. However, you can restrain more than one type of action, one panel at a time, until this becomes the only reasonable option.

OH!
So you Retrain their Attack.
Then Restrain their Move in the next Panel.
So they are effectively "pinned" then?
That makes more sense.

cheers

Wow, I would have never gotten that from the text Bashman (stacking restrained actions from panel to panel).

Well, at least I was half right about a rule interpretation for once!
