This is my heroic alter ego! 40 point build, 39 used:

I keep tweaking him, and I know there are quite a few speedsters already, but it's the power I've always wanted. So there :P

Sorry to double post... But looking around I see a lot of ranges on people who have Push, how do I determine that?

you pay points for range and burst effect , just like it was a special attack for example

6 push 5 area small line for a fan effect
or
7 push 5 medium range for a presser beam

or
10 push 5 medium range large burst area for a tornado

So with Push 3 I would have a range of 2? Making sure I read you right.

My understanding is that that is true if you spend two of your points on the power for range and have an effective push of 1 at range. As you have it now I believe boost needs to be next to his target.

Push works just like Special Attack. You hit with your Agility, and the base DM (before doubling) is your Brawn for a melee push, or Mind for a ranged push (although a physical push that affects an area, like the Hulk's hand clap or something could use Brawn even for range/area). Levels of Push can be allocated to increase your attack roll, your damage roll (before doubling), or range and area.

So if you spent 3 points on Push for a physical push (which it looks like you did), then your Push would have a x5 attack roll and a Brawn 2 + Push 3 = x5 (before doubling) but no range. This looks like what you bought.

However, if you wanted range or area (still using Brawn as the basis), then for the same 3 points you could do Close range and just increase damage by 2, so x4 (before doubling) within 5 squares. Or you could do a Medium Line and increase your damage by 1, so x3 (before doubling) in a 2x8 sq. line. Does that make sense?

Yes, thank you. I'm pretty new to the system, so it helps to have things spelled out for me :P If BeardedDork is who I suspect him to be from Saga-Edition then he introduced me to it.

Boost's final incarnation is above, and here is the scientist ultimately responsible for Boost's powers. Doctor Steel:

I'll be posting their shared background at some point. Haven't come up with a Mental Malfunction yet. Also there is no cap for Push right? So his Push would be x14?

I have not seen a rule limiting Push, so in theory it could be up to x20 (if the base power had a x10 DM). In my game, I've been self-limiting it to the x10 to x14 range at the high end. I think all the archetypes in the book have no more than a x10 or so.
