Don't waste money on buying Acrobat, Pagemaker is all you need for that.

Photoshop too ;)
Does pagemaker allow you to embed fonts? I also don't have a copy of it anymore though, so I need sit down and start budgeting for this stuff. Never used photshop before either. I have paint shop pro; is that sufficient? See, I got a lot to learn still

Get GIMP, it is as powerful as Photoshop and very very free.

There is a free pagelayout program my buddy uses as well, I will try and get the name from him as well.

New image (which I just got less than five minutes ago!)

I wanted to do a Wonder Woman type character, but decided to vastly revise the concept. So, instead of a woman, this character is not only male, but isn't human.

Coming from a secluded civilization of intelligent Apes, Prince Darr is chosen to represent his people to a world at war. While royalty, he embraces the ideology of Democracy, and becomes a champion of the American People. He is....American Ape!

Heh! I actually got part of the idea from that BASH game I played in awhile back. One of the other players made his character an orange colored gorilla named Rusty. He was hilarious (especially since the other player kept calling him a monkey, which gorillas are not). From there, I somehow came up with making a Gorilla variant for Wonder Woman, and American Ape was born.

Now I just need to figure out how to get these images onto a character sheet. I could do a pdf with scribus, but I wanted to do jpegs, and I don't have photoshop, and paint shop pro won't let me paste the character images onto the character sheet image

Oh, I sent Kris the link for this thread. He wanted me to thank everyone for their comments. He's got 3 more commissions to do for me (and 1 which needs a minor edit), so I'll be posting at least one more of my Golden Age heroes soon.

Not yet. I have some hand written notes (showing my age here) of the basics they can all do. Once I had all the art, i was going to sit down and write them all out. I have comic life installed on my desktop, but I really found it kind of difficult to work with. Maybe I should just add the images in to make the base sheets, then add in text with another program (as that was the part I had problems with in Comic Life)

Oh, and check your mail box Kroh, as I sent you a mail yesterday

Weird, cause it's not in my inbox (nor does my display show any new messages). Could you resend it?

The Badge

Post by urbwar »

This next piece was actually one of the first of my original heroes Kris did (though his costume is derived from someone else's concept of a police inspired Golden Age hero). However, a new idea sparked for his origin, so a revision was made to the look of the character.

Originally, he was similar to the DC hero known as Guardian, just a well trained guy with a badge-like shield. That all changed while doing some research online, and voila! Another hero with an origin tied to Greek mythology.

Dan Cross was just another beat cop, doing his duty in the seedy parts of NYC. One night, he was set upon by some local thugs, who beat him, and left him for dead. As he lay battered in the street, the goddess * appeared to him. She told him she was searching for a man who fully believed in the laws of man to be her avatar on Earth. She offered Dan a chance to truly make a difference. With nothing to lose, Dan accepted. * healed his wounds, and gifted him with a badge shaped shield emblazoned with the Scales of Justice on it. She told him that the wicked Adikia ("Injustice") had chosen an avatar as well, and it would be his job to oppose that servant of lawlessness.

Dan created a costume based on his police uniform. No longer was he a simple police officer; from this moment forth, he was....THE BADGE!!!

Hope you all like!
