BASH! Creator character design website launched

Post by DevastatingWeakness »

I've launched a spanking-new BASH! character design website at: http://www.bashcreator.net

Hope everyone finds this useful. It supports about 95% of the BASH! UE rules (and I'll get the remainder done soon). Design characters, save them as text or as a link, share them around, pick from a couple of different character sheet formats (including BBCode format), and featuring an internationally-ignored blog.

As a taster, here's Champion of Justice: http://www.bashcreator.net/#/load/1hcgw

And here's Armadillo Girl: http://www.bashcreator.net/#/load/31l30

It's free. It contains genetically modified organisms. Take it for a spin.

No worries, Darren. :D Hope you find it useful. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Next release (due end of week), I'll add a much-improved printable character sheet print format. After that, I'll have to tackle Result Bonuses, because those are needed for a few powers like Growth and Heightened. I think being able to include an image URL would be a nice extra for the character sheets.

Pretty cool :) - and nice to see the BBCode formatting from Bashcreator.net works properly.

One thing that looks a little odd is having Personal on Flying and Hovering. The 'Personal' limitation is only a limitation if the power is normally designed to affect others. It's an odd spot in the rules how some powers (like Armor and Immunity) are specifically tagged with Personal, but other powers (like Flight, Hovering, and many of others) seem to be intended only to affect the owner of the power, but are not tagged with Personal.

Similar sort of thing probably applies to putting Only Affects Others on Telekinesis.

a good point. I would not normal do it , I only did because this PC can not carry anyone due to his nature, BUT a good argument could be made that this is covered by the Ghost form limits all ready.

below I redid him without those two limits. makes him spot on 25 point and I am a lot happier with him. He is powerful for a 25 point Hero :D

The Poltergeist
25 points (14 Stats, 13 Powers , -2 Weaknesses)
He was a Paramedic in life. He was killed in the cross fire of a gang fight while trying to save the life of a little girl , herself gunned down. As the life faded from his eyes his last sight was the child bleeding out while behind her the uncaring gangers fought on. He died with Love , regret and hate in his heart......He come back.

Is the 'second nature' enhancement really necessary on ghost form? I didn't do it for Noctis, who also has ghost form with 'always on'.

And why put a limit on telekinesis that he can't affect himself? I would assume that was part of the power, otherwise it would effectively also give you the flight power for free.

Ghost Form is Maintained by default, which means if you take damage the power turns off. That doesn't seem right for a specter. The Sustained enhancement makes the Ghost Form stick around even if you take damage.

I agree that Only Affects Others on Telekinesis is redundant. There's no indication that you're meant to be able to use that power on yourself.

Here is a brick character I made once. He's a country boy who got transformed into a man made out of a diamond like substance. He is super strong and tough and able to survive in almost any environment.

    * Fleet of Foot 1 (Run 4 squares per panel. Jump 6 squares. Does not stack with other forms of super movement.) (1pts)

Nice - very straight-forward Brick. It's tempting to question the very low Mental Defence, but then sometimes interesting characters are defined as much by their weaknesses as by their strengths. Diamond Jim would have a hard time facing off against a mind-controlling psychic, but then that sets up a Brain vs Brawn dynamic that might be interesting.

Here is a blaster character that was based on my first Villains and Vigilantes character. I am really having a lot of fun with this generator.

Solarblast

A mutant superhero Kevin Mallory lived in South Florida for most of his life. He was a son of a single mother who never knew his father. He was a typical surfer, beach guy. Did school when it was necessary and his only oddity was how the heat of South Florida never bothered him. In fact the hotter it got the better he felt. He loved running, playing basketball and partying. It was while partying during his 16th year summer break that his powers activated. He got into a fight with a football jock over a girl that the jock was mistreating. He was about to get his * kicked when he started to generate intense heat from his hands. He then burned the jock, and scared instinctively flew away! Things could have gotten worse until while flying away he saw two thugs trying to mug a bystander. He flew in a fired a blast of solar energy at one of them. When the bystander told the press they dubbed his the new superhero Solarblast and the name stuck. When the parents of the jock initially tried to sue Kevin's mother the police discovered that girl was indeed being abused and the charges were dropped. But the jock wanted revenge...

x2 Defence, x3 Mental Defence, x3 Soak

Powers
  • *Solarblast Multi-power: (7pts)

        • * Enhancement: Area (Small Burst) (Affects 2x2 square area.)
    * Flight 4 (Fly 20 squares per panel.) (4pts)
    * Personal heat shield : Armor 2 (+2 to Brawn to Soak damage.) (2pts)
    * Skillful 2 (Gain 4 extra skill slots.) (2pts)
    * Strong willed : Mind Shield 1 (+2 to Mind to resist mental attacks.) (1pts)

    * Solar heat field : Force Field (Damage Shield) 2 (Damage shield has 40 hits. Soaks 10 damage when hit. Inflicts 1DM on contact.) (2pts)

That's a nice, well-rounded Blaster. The background is very 'Stan Lee neighbourhood hero'.

In the new update to www.bashcreator.net I implemented the Skillful power, so you should have those extra 4 skill points to use. Not quite sure if you had them right on the version posted above.

Here's a link to SolarBlast's build: http://www.bashcreator.net/#/load/30fwi

And it'll do a nice character sheet for you if you need one:

@DW: I have a suggestion regarding the Powers (and other traits, such as Advantages) that you are reluctant to add from the Awesome Powers books. You could add Customizable Options (like the ones already included with the Enhancements and Limitations) to those lists as well. That way the owner of the books just write them in himself or herself, or even just invent their own.

Yup, custom Powers, Advantages, Disadvantages and Skills are on my To Do list. (There are already custom Enhancements, Limitations and Skills Specialities.)

I'm also talking to BASHMAN about getting permission to add the new Powers from the AP line (like Absorption, Imbue and Trample from AP1). I want to hit the right balance between providing a useful character design and play reference, without hurting sales of the AP books. (Ideally, BASHCreator should help sales, not hurt them.)

You could just not have the program detail what the powers actually do. Yeah, mentioning to hit bonus and DM is fine, but describing how a power like absorption works should definitely not be in there. Really, I think it should only show the powers like people on this forum do. They just list the power, point cost, and how they decided to arrange the points of say special attack. That way, you can mention the absorption power without making it so a person could use that power in their game without buying the book.
