This is something I've been wondering a bit: how similar are characters in the game to ones you can build in BASH? I was thinking of making a variety of spellcaster npcs (like necromancer, witch, summoner, etc...), but I was afraid they would bear too much resemblance to NPCs in this book.
My superhero setting isn't fantasy, but magic and the supernatural are much more prominent than science fiction. So it does have a lot of fantasy elements to it. For instance, in place of several species of extraterrestrials, you see supernatural beings from other realms. Though they don't really look like ordinary fantasy beings (no dwarves or elves), really they're just semi-divine beings with bizarre powers and motives. The setting also takes a huge influence from mythology, despite taking place in the modern day.

Everything functions an a different scale. This is Heroic vs. Superheroic scale, and some things function differently. Magic is one of them.
For instance, in BASH! UE, everyone can soak damage with Brawn, and Armor power improves this. In BASH! Fantasy, you only soak damage by wearing actual armor or by having a special power (like toughness from a scaly hide or a spell like Arcane Armor). Toughness and armor have half the normal effect against magical damage. So a knight in full plate armor with a soak of 30 has a soak of 15 against spells. In BASH! UE, the fact that the source of damage is magic does not matter unless the target has some special resistance or weakness to magical damage like Armor [Extra Effect vs. Magic] or Armor [No Effect vs. Magic]
In BASH! UE, Energy Cost is a limitation you can put on powers. In BASH! Fantasy, it is assumed that many powers use energy, especially magic powers. So you cannot just keep casting your energy blast spell; when you don't have enough energy to cast it, you have to stop (but you can use the Occultism/Channeling skill to recover energy as an action).
