Knightsky's convention game characters

Post by Knightsky »

Alright, going to take a stab at posting some characters. These are based on characters I'll be using for some con games I'll be running in the near future. The basic idea is that there is a loose-knit group of heroes in the Atlanta area called the Southern Guard. There's currently a baker's dozen in the group, but each character has a reason why they might not be available at any given time, so usually there's around 3-6 heroes who show up for any given mission/encounter.

The characters are deliberately kept simple in design, as they will be used by players who in all likelihood have no prior experience with the BASH! system. I tried to give just enough description in the various write-ups so that players will be able to jump into their roles pretty easily, but let them be sparse enough so that they can add their own touches to make the characters their own.

'Mental Malfunction' has be renamed to the more value-neutral term 'Schtick'. There is also a Quote for each character.

As these are for my own use at convention games, and not for any commercial use, I'm pretty shameless about swiping character pictures (and occasionally logos) from various comic books, gaming illustrations, etc. for use on the character sheets.

First up is Diamond. I'll probably re-do her sheet as I get more adept at using Photoshop for this, but for the moment I just want to get this out there, so as to get some feedback.

Nice! It strikes me that it would be much harder to jump from the 70s to the present than Captain America jumping from the 40s to the 60s in the comics. :)

I hope you post more of these characters.

Learning a little more about what to do with Photoshop for these sheets. That said, no one will ever mistake me for a professional graphics designer. ;)

Next up... the Jaguar!

Did you do the shadow of the Jaguar's logo yourself?

Cool! Is TAROT perhaps based on the organization from the old James Bond 007 rpg?

No, I'm not remotely skilled enough to do something like that! I swiped the logo from the Red Circle version of the character of the same name from a few years ago:

(the illustration comes from from the character that DC/Impact did in the early 90's)

It's a mash-up of the group in the 007 game, and the similarly-named organization from the V&V module The Pentacle Plot.

(I really am shameless about what I swipe from)

Note: I know that blinding attacks are usually represented by Confusion, and are usually defended against with Mind, but for such attacks that are purely physical in nature I have characters defend with Agility instead - the write-up for the Anti-Glare goggles reflect that.

As with so much of these write-ups, I can claim no originality here... the quote is taken from the alt-text of a recent strip of the Dumbing Of Age webcomic.

Been slack over the last week, need to get back on the stick!

Note: Sentry's Bracers could probably qualify as a gadget, but I couldn't find a drawback that was quite relevant, so I paid the full amount, with the part about it being a gadget essentially a special effect.
