MrJupiter wrote:Great art. Deva looks fantastic. I really like the Paladin logo design (which looks like it incorporates a knife blade into the back of the 'p').
Some of the concept art for The Falcon in Winter Solider was really cool. I took aspects of 3 of them to composite for Deva.
yeah, the logo has a blade. It was something I came up with for it that I thought might be cool
So after doing Blaster, I asked Richard to do another character tied to his background. His gear was once used by a Golden Age villain that I never bothered to actually create. Decided to come up with one, and came up with The Tomorrow Man, a villain who used high-tech gear to commit crimes. Like Blaster, he has the ray gun and force field belt. He also wears a futuristic (for the time) helmet, and his glittery silver costume (which was inspired by the original Lost in Space outfits worn by the Robinsons when they first left Earth in the Jupiter 2). So here's a sketch of The Tomorrow Man!
Here's one from Dan Houser, for the secret project. This is Volos, king of the Subterrans. This is not the final version as I'm having him change around colors on the tats and skin tone until I find a combo I like:
Great images for all. I love the helmets for Powered Armor and Moodswing. I was surprised to not see a sword for Dark Knight. With the utility belt, would he be more of a Batman type of character (that would be a fresh alternative)?

yup, no sword. His original look was less knightly looking, but it was there in the look
Richard sent me 2 colored drafts today. He's really got a flair for Golden Age character I think, so I've been having adapt characters in the public Domain. These are 2 German villains, Baron Doom and Count Berlin (I know, corny names!). The color scheme on the Baron isn't what I wanted, so this will change (it's supposed to be darker, more grey, but some of the images I sent Richard were the wrong color, so there was a communication mixup on that). Berlin is good, but I'm having the swastika removed, because he's supposed to be a covert agent, and I think having them makes him too similar to Blackout (with his Skull & Crossbones on both forehead and chest). Still, I think he got the looks down pretty well:
Found another cool artist on DeviantArt named Juan Paolo Mananita. He's doing a sale, so I got him to do 2 covers for me. One he needs to revise, but here's the one he's going to do using Drive By, one of the street level baddies Joe Singelton drew for me:
And here is the pencils for the other cover I commission from Juan Paolo. It's for American Ape's villainous brother, Simius, who leads a group of Super Apes in a quest to conquer the world. This image features Simius squaring off with American Ape, while Iron Ape is leaping to pounce on AA while's he's distracted....
New one from Richard! Based on a pulp villain I created, this is Red Devil, Russian bad guy (though once Russia is our ally in WW2, he becomes an ally of sorts himself)
The two cover pictures look fantastic. I really like the look for the Russian pulp villain, Red Devil. Keep up the effort you're putting into these. You've got my money when they are released.
