Looking for a missing character candidate -- suggestions?
Here is a little background:
This summer I am planning on running a series of games for my two daughters and a couple of their friends. This will be a mini-campaign using the EMERALD CITY setting (for Green Ronin’s M&M product line, which I just received in the mail). I will be running this game with BASH and making conversions as needed.
Many of the players have some tabletop role-playing game experience (mostly from horror rpgs like HORROR RULES: The Simply Horrible Role-playing Game or WORLD OF DARKNESS) and are fans of superhero movies. My objective is to provide them with ready-to-play characters based upon popular MARVEL and DC heroines supported with a bit of art that helps to inspire them. It hasn’t been easy to find suitable art that is both cool and suitable (so many pictures are targeted at pubescent boys).
So far I have pooled together twenty character candidates. Every character has an image that will be featured on the player’s character sheet and another picture that helps to evoke the awesomeness of that hero. So far I have:
ARMOR and BLACK CANARY
BLACK WIDOW and INVISIBLE WOMAN
JOCASTA and MEDUSA
MOONDRAGON and MS. MARVEL
POLARIS and RAVEN
ROGUE and SCARLET WITCH
SHE-HULK and SPIDER-WOMAN
STARFIRE and STORM
TIGRA and WASP
X-23 and ZATANNA
(Is there an obvious candidate that I have overlooked?)
In looking over these characters I realized that I'm missing a representation for a Gadgeteer/Inventor type heroine. What I’m looking for is a female equivalent of MR. FANTASTIC or IRON MAN: a heroine that creates gadgets and gizmos of advanced technology (and not merely uses the equipment made by someone else). Surely MARVEL and DC have not forgotten to develop a female genius super character. I have made a few such examples, and I’m slightly tempted to port over GIMMICK the Gadget Girl from MUTANTS & MASTERMINDS 1st edition. Does anyone a suggestion? I’m willing to look at other publisher too, if I can find two suitable art pics. Thanks for any help you can provide.

DC had Merry, the Girl of 1000 Gimmicks, and I believe Natasha Irons (Steel's niece and later Starlight/Vaporlock of the rebooted Infinity Inc.) was a science type.

I'm drawing a blank on Marvel science heroines. The villainous Dr. June Covington/Toxic Doxie is an evil geneticist that injects herself with gene modifiers to give herself super-powers.

Thanks for these offerings, Supertodd. I can't find many worthwhile images for Gimmick Girl (but she seems a bit off from what I'm looking for anyway). The Steel version of Natasha is pretty cool though I can't find to many of the images of the armor version that I like (seen it on a toy and in a few cgi renderings that weren't suitable for my project).Supertodd wrote:DC had Merry, the Girl of 1000 Gimmicks, and I believe Natasha Irons (Steel's niece and later Starlight/Vaporlock of the rebooted Infinity Inc.) was a science type.

This is a neat character idea. Again, I can't seem to find a suitable image for the stand-alone character sheet pose.Solarblast wrote:There is the Engineer from the Authority.

Oh well, thanks for the help.
