hrm, had issues with 4shared for some reason (usually it's pretty reliable), but it appears the original links work, as I was able to download it from the 1.11 link

ok, I got a question:

How can i view the character sheet as the actual sheet, and not all these sub boxes? I saved the sheet for the first character I did, but I have no idea how to view it as the sheet. I'd like to see what it looks like before attempting to print it out

There should be a "Print Preview" icon on the toolbar, IIRC.

My server is back up and running but we aren't sure about its stability yet.

Correct, you can go directly to the option by selecting the "File" menu and then "Print Preview". There is also a print preview button on the toolbar. It's the 6th from the left.

Ok, I was able to view it. Thanks.

Any chance you'll be updating this to include soak/defense/mental defense on the sheet? That's something this still really needs (imho). Beyond that, this is really great.

I would have bought metacreator just for Unisystem (I didn't actually get that template yet, as I could only afford the standard program), but this makes it really worth the purchase.

How does Metacreator compare in quailty versus say Hero Lab? I already own Hero Lab and really hope they make a Bash! data set.

I can try to answer that, as I've used both tools extensively.

Functionality is similar, although keep in mind MetaCreator was created (figuring off the top of my head) more than a decade before HeroLab, and the difference shows in the interface.

Designing for both shows the difference, too. Coding for MetaCreator reminds me of Smalltalk (or insert equivalent small-footprint programming language), while creating data sets for HeroLab involve a lot of configuration files and XML schemas.

I'm still working on getting acquainted with HeroLab's Authoring Kit (when not occupied wih Real Life(tm) ), but I could see creating a data set for BASH as not that difficult a task.

I have a question.

Using Meta-Creator for BASH! can you go into the data files and change or add to the data information that you have when making a new character?

I ask, because I'd like to *custom* some of the Powers, Ads/Disads, and Skills for my campaign specifically before having players open it up to make a new character.

Can you, and if so - how do you see and alter all the BASH! data? And can you change it for a custom build sheet?

Thanks!

Now that's a question I'll have to leave to the expert on this (Alric)

BASH templates for Metacreator?

Post by Nighthawk »

Quote Kevperrin :)
I would modify the templates of BASH Metacreator in order to creat BASH Sci-Fi characters, if it's possibile ;)

Sadly my web server hard rive died a while ago and the back-ups were no good. I have my working files backed up somewhere but I haven't been able to locate them yet.

If anyone still has a copy of the zip file perhaps they could make it available.

In the meantime I'll keep looking for it.

Do you remember what the .zip file was called? I'll look for it on my machine.
