Just Another F... Villain Roster Book
Yeah, I need to work on that.
Anyway, I have been toying with the idea of actually putting together a roster book. It's something I've thought about for years for different systems and such and I think I'll actually do it. I've always loved those old roster books. I have, literally, hundreds of characters from my super-gaming past and an ultimate goal of having something actually printed up as well as a PDF.
Then I can show my mommy I've done something with my superhero fanaticism.
Enough set-up. Hey, guys, what do you think would be a good head count for a roster book? It seems most things I've seen online are singles or 10 characters, but I want a good old fashioned roster book with lots to choose from, so I'm sort of feeling out the crowd here (oops, sorry, ma'am). A 10 or 20 page book seems way too small to me, but maybe a 10 page pdf only "sampler" could be done up.
Secondly, is full color worth a few more bucks to you? Or do we like coloring in our pictures instead? OR full color with maybe a pdf bundle of B&W picture outlines to print, color, and modify for personal use?
Thirdly, are heroes & allies worthwhile in the same book? Or should they get their own goody-two shoes roster book? Or should I just forget the good guys because no one plays villains, needs allies, or ever runs into the classic hero vs hero showdown in a new town?
Fourthly, is there a strong need for plot hooks for characters in a roster book, or do we prefer to come up with our own jazz?
Lastly, would the average BASH player be less inclined to get the book if the art style is more traditional rather than animated? Or should I brush up on my Timmistic style?
Assume my average quality is about like this:
Any and all opinions welcome, only rude ones will be ignored. Many thanks in advance for your participation.

George Perez is my all-time favorite. Back before the internet was what it is today, I exchanged "e-mail" with him on the Prodigy service. He's such an awesome dude, he actually gave a gushing kid his home address to send art to so he could critique it!Dragonfly wrote:I like the Timm style quite a bit, but my preference is actually for George Perez, Jerry Ordway, Jack Kirby style stuff. I like the pic you provided above, and would be VERY interested to see a book done in that style!
Thanks so far to those who answered. We'll see if the trend of "no opinion" as to the size of the roster and inclusion of white hats continues.
