Hi All,
I just picked up BASH Fantasy Edition and I definitely like the approach and it looks like a fun flexible game. One area I'm having difficulty with is movement, I was wondering if I could get some clarifications.
First of all how do you determine the number of squares allowed in a panel as described on page 28 (2 seconds for fantasy according to pg 76)? I can't seem to find what the base walking speed is or the definition of the size of a square.
Part of my confusion comes from Fleet of Foot describing running at x4 Agility instead of the normal x3 Agility, but Conversion notes on page 76 says base movement (would that be walking) is x3 Agility.
I hope I didn't miss an explanation in the forums already (I looked but didn't see one). Thanks in advance and I hope to convince my group to try the game soon.

Regular movement a "run" is the character's Agility score times 3. A "Sprint" is essentially the forfeit of your attack for an extra move (i.e. move + move instead of move + attack).
I don't have my copy of BASH Fantasy handy but I believe it is covered in the description of Agility at the beginning of the book.

It is 5 feet per square. The "2 seconds" thing is the assumed time of a "Page". In BASH! UE it is assumed about 1 second. In other words, characters in BASH! UE scale with characters in BASH! Fantasy because the time scale and stats scale at a 1:2 ratio. A person with a 4 Agility in BASH! Fantasy runs the same speed as someone with a 2 Agility in BASH! UE.
I think it's possible that it just was not explained very well in the BASH! Fantasy Rules; one of the things I've tried to work on over the years is clarity; but BASH! Fantasy was only my second outing as a game designer, so I may have left out some details.

All these years and I've been making the assumption that a Page (in BASH-Supers) was about 5 seconds long. I guess that goes to show that there is always something to learn!
[BASHMAN: About your clarity: it was one of my favourite features of BASH. You didn't waste unnecessary amounts of text on unneeded fluff. You got right to the heart of the point and then went straight on to the next one. Thanks!]

That helps with understanding, so base movement is up to x3 Agility in squares per panel, x4 with Fleet of Foot, and you can still perform an action. If you do two moves you loose the action, as well as the other options on Page 28.
As for clarity, I think the rules are quite good and as MrJupiter said concise and to the point (which is a big plus for me). It may have a lot to do with my not having any BASH context or background (Fantasy was my first BASH product). I'm looking forward to Sci-fi for my Birthday here is a couple of weeks. If this was only your second foray as a designer, kudos, it is great game.

Well, if you liked BASH: Fantasy, then you'll love BASH: Sci-Fi. The layout and art are fantastic and the rules feel like their own system. BASH: Fantasy felt like the original supers game but with fantasy elements added on top (at least to me). Sci-Fi was written from the ground up for space adventures (though it could work in a pinch for any modern era gaming).

The times given were "approximate" as the type of action taken will obviously affect how long it takes. It's just like when you watch a cartoon like Avengers. Sometimes Thor's action takes 1 second, and sometimes it takes 3 or 5 seconds, or sometimes it takes a minute.
