If you insist...
Let's start with some contrasts. In my post-Dragos sorrow, I've bounced around a little from artist to artist. There are some themes you might detect in my pieces -- women with serious comic-book curves, men with muscular builds, 'classic' costume design, heavy use of technology, etc. I've had some trouble finding an artist who hits the right notes for me personally on all those levels (for some, hot chicks always look slutty... for others, the tech doesn't look right and so on), so I've taken to using different artists for different pieces.
See what you guys think.
Crash is a teen-heroine in the Runaways theme -- on the lam, hiding out from her supervillain parents. Super-strong, tough, wears with big power gauntlets made by her inventor father, Toybox.
Dragos took at crack at her:
Pretty cool, but something wasn't resonating. I later had Third Rail Design Lab's Thom C take a stab... I generally find Thom's women too waifish for my liking, but he really pegged Crash. IMO. Check out the cool factor on the gloves.
Thom does, I think, fantastic technology and costumes in general. Check these out:
Arcangel, a female Tony Stark type...
And the stealth suit version...
Alpha -- aging Ultraman's young replacement...
See Emperor Dang back there on page 1 that Storn drew for me? Here are his kids, drawn by Thom. Great job, I think. Love the elements he brought over from the original design.
One of the premiere super-villain teams in the Paragonsverse, Holocauste. *Love* this piece.
And let's finish up with another character I've had drawn twice.
The TRDL (Thom's) version of Aero, a scientist who's immortality-obsessed husband locked her in a super-android body:
Not bad. But then look at the version of Aero I've had a new artist named bokuman put together. His work can be too cheesecake for my liking at times, but it really seems to work here. I'll be using him (and Thom) more in the future.
Enjoy!
