The Sky Marshall. Status: Normal. Hits 100
Jesse waited his turn for the introductions. He was very concerned with the general's preference to treat them like mushroom soldiers: keep them in the dark and feed then $#!+. While he had difficulty following the clown, he agreed with what he understood of his line of questioning. And Couchemar was right on the mark. Yep, another general that I won't like, he thought to himself.
When Couchemar was distracted with his phone call, Jesse made his introduction to the team. "I'm the Sky Marshall. Lady Paramount, Couchemar and I have already worked together. I have straight-forward capabilities. The rocket pack allows me to fly. The ray gun allows me to disable people and obstacles." He paused to holster the ray gun and looked around. "It looks like the major and I will provide air support for the team."
After his turn, Jesse headed toward the dossiers. He flipped through them to see if he could remember any scientific research being conducted at the target locations. He thought that they needed to understand the pattern of the attacks, so they can predict them. He also didn't trust the general to tell them everything... or much of anything.

AMERICAN RUBBER (Status: Normal, Hits: 100)
aka. Dr. Kenny Kirby
"Why... um, why I ask Mr. Soldier, uh... Sir. Is... well. Maybe your recall isn't so great..." American Rubber pushed... trying not to illustrate his real thought: 'or MAYBE you're a SPY giving us a ruse of a story Mr. Ratzi!!' ...
"because... *rising* in 1778 then again some EIGHTY years later would mean.... uh..." Kenny... slid back in his chair a bit, realizing that his overactive steel-trap of a mind might have just offended unintentionally... 80 years... well it was more like 83 years, 84 if the 2nd Battle......... A.R.'s awareness synced with the facts his history books reminded him of... Perhaps he was a bit TOO ready to get into investigating, already doubting his teammates. Hopefully it wouldn't come back to *haunt* him!
"...uh... Oh... uh... Yes. The Battle of Bull Run you say?! Yup. Folks. That'd be about right. 1861, '62 if you *rose* at the second Battle... " .... quickly looking to smooth over his ... over-analytical mind with useless factoids!!....
"...uh... HEY!! There was a TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE that year... mostly across Texas to Virginia... Ya think *that* might be a catalyst to your *rising*??!! " ... Trailing off, hoping his change of pace wording had masked his unintentional insinuations. Kenny continued muttering...
"...the battle coulda been Washington at Monmouth... or maybe the Wyoming Massacre in Pennsylvaia?... or-or-or maybe the Battle of Rhode Island??... hmmm... I wonder if he had any knowledge of the Treaty of Alliance or Amity and Commerce with France? 'cause that was the year Voltaire died... er... No... Mr. Cauchemar is the Frenchy...
...heheh Benedict Arnold signed an oath of allegiance....."
Kenny continued to muse and mutter...
'huh... quite a bit of 'unremarkable men'.....' Dr. Kirby thought to himself, carefully examining each individual and setting his mind to remember every minute detail given by his new team... It could be handy in the field.
"...Gotta say folks, I agree with Mr. Cauchemar, I mean... uh... ooookay ..." American Rubber trailed off seeing the mystery man skulk off without waiting for answers or thoughts from his team... 'Rude? or just unthoughtful?' Dr. Kirby wondered. '...was there purpose behind Cauchemar's exit... to make a point perhaps??... curious.' A.R. mused...
Then again, turning...
Noticing The Sky Marshall flipping through the dossiers
'heh... great idea!' stretching his torso across the room looking intently at the files, then up to the jet-packed fellow...
"Hey, Great idea, Mr. Sky Marshall. Can I give you a hand there??"

aka. Dr. Kenny Kirby
"...the first?... uh... I mean, the first or second Battle of Bull Run...?..." Dr. Kirby puzzled. His mind held EVERYTHING he'd ever read, seen or heard - Kenny had always had an excellent recall, but the serum seemed to rebound those thought patterns in a way that he could remember facts of the matter with easy. A fact, itself, that often annoyed Maggie. heheh ... continuing curiously...Unknown Solider wrote:I only recall the moment I died... in 1778, in some skirmish the history books have not seen fit to name. I rose a year from that day, and fought the Redcoats in the form you now see. Some eighty years later, I rose again when the US Army was routed at Bull Run. I rise again now to face these new foes."[/i]

Interest turned... switching tracks as quickly as humanly possible...Cauchemar wrote: "If your best men haven't figured out where they come from, and you seem to forbid us from investigating..."
He then changed the subject and excused himself to use the phone.

Unknown Soldier began to long for the peace of the grave under the barrage of the brightly dressed man's questions. He felt the urge to leap inside American Rubber and simply show him all he'd seen... but that would be cruel. Instead, he faded from view, and moved to the table to examine the dossiers...

Lady Paramount, gazed * at American Rubber's verbal outburst. Something odd about this one, she thought. Maybe he has shell shock? Or...insane. Either could prove deadly in the field. I hope the General knows what he's doing.
She then returned to studying the dossiers.

Mae Winters listened intently as the Unknown Soldier told his incredible story, her expression attentive as the spirit’s hollow voice sounded thinly in the air. Behind her, Sky Marshall’s helmet lenses whirred and clicked as he examined the evidence carefully, racking his brain to try and put the different sites together. Some kind of special research that tied them together? Nothing was coming to him. There just… was no connection.
Cauchemar returned from making his phone call just as Brubaker took Major Meteor and Blockade aside, letting the rest of the assembled team pour over the documents and photographs. The Mystery Man joined American Rubber, Lady Paramount and the others as across the room, out of earshot, the gray-haired General expressed a bit of concern to the two soldiers.
“Look, Major, Captain – I need you to step up here, help with managing the civilians. I know they can do some impressive things, but they’re not trained, they’re not soldiers like you both are.” Looking over their shoulders at the team, watching them interact with one another as they discussed the evidence, he continued. “We don’t need help with the legwork on this, it’s not why you were all brought in. It’s a good team – though I wonder about the rubber clown and don’t like the attitude on the one with the gas mask. Keep an eye on them. Also, make sure Paramount is happy. She’s good for morale."
Over at the table, Captain Stevens was answering Cauchemar’s question about how the team would intercept the attack (since the General had seen fit to ignore it). “So we’ve got the Major and the Marshall, both of whom should be able to get on-site quickly under their own power. For the rest of us – well, we’ve got something to show you. Any of you familiar with the XP-79 project? Probably not. Well, it’s a rocket-plane prototype… had some issues. But we’ve now got access to a couple of German rocket specialists who were captured last year, and we’ve got a transport version called the XCG-79 ready to roll. At better than five hundred miles per hour, we should be able to hit the * within a few hours of when we get word that their attack has begun. Depending on where we are and where we’re needed. Not a perfect plan, I admit, but it’s the best we’ve got.”

Blockade (Status: Normal, Hits: 100)
Jack listened his ire rising, never in his life had he witnessed something like this, had these guys never heard of respect or discipline. If a General gave you an order you followed it, you certainly didn't question it in such a manner and if you had reservations, you discussed the matter privately. Though it did seem slightly odd to ask an investigator onto the team and then ask him not to investigate!, Jack had learned first-hand you used every asset you got.
He listened intently as they started to discuss their abilities and had to admit the spook sounded impressive and he was intrigued to see how effective Lady was, but he would still put his money on a 30. Cal.
It was then he got the nod from the general.
“General, permission to speak freely?”
(General nods)
“No respect Sir but is this all baloney, I mean I am sure all these guys have good intentions, but that’s all they have. There’s no discipline, no coordination, no order of command, all these guys are used to working by themselves, their wild cards. Maybe with a couple of months training we could get us operational as a unit, but this. Right now there’s one or two that could be useful, but I could get the job done with a squad of marines and a couple of my buddies from OSS. Look I know it’s a PR thing, so why not get em selling war bonds or something useful?”

"War bonds?" this is the same thing that happened when Mavis had tried to get assigned to the field as a code talker. She'd be damned if she was going to get sidelined again. "With all due respect Captain Starr, if I wanted to do that I would have joined the Radio City Rockettes. I am here to serve, not entertain. "
OOC; disregard this post, if Blockade's comment wasn't directed for all to hear.

The Sky Marshall (Status: normal, Hits: 100)
The dossiers weren't so completely engrossing to ignore the Blockhead's statement. Jesse set down the dossier and moved between LP and Blockade. "That's enough soldier! I've been in several combats with Lady Paramount, and she can more than hold her own." His voice reverberated from the helmet.
"Besides, she was invited to this mission by your superiors. And good soldiers follow orders. So get use to her... quick." The Sky Marshall stood there with his hands on each side of his belt waiting for a reply.

"Firstly flyboy I don’t take orders from anyone but a superior officer and you don’t seem to hold no rank tintop, so wind your neck in and secondly I am sure you’ve all had a doozy of a time playing at being crime fighters, but these guys ain’t some 2 bit, half trained crooks, these are highly trained, well equipped soldiers, whose sole purpose is to kill the enemy."

Cauchemar, Normal, 80 hits
Cauchemar was getting weary of the preening antics, of his fellows. "Ok, cut the * all of you, you especially Blockade. We were assembled to be a team, be part of the team or be on your way. And I am also a trained soldier, I was knee deep in the atrocities of war and the blood of friend and foe alike, probably before you were potty trained.
I took my share of German lives and through my efforts spared the lives of thousands of Americans.
Now do you want to * and moan and play hero or do you want to get the job we were assembled to do done?"
Directing his attention back to the dossier, "What can you gentlemen tell me about this?" He asked jabbing his finger at what appeared to be a large aircraft.

Unknown Soldier, Status: Normal (Unliving), 100 Hits 6HP, 1HD
Unknown Soldier silently agreed with Cauchemar. He did not understand the spectacle that was taking place here, and wanted to get on with their mission at hand. Surely they could save their bitterness for the Hessians.
Responding to Cauchemar, hoping to get the others to focus on the task at hand, he said,
"Naught, I am afraid. Such devices are most unfamiliar to me. I realize I will need to adjust and learn a great deal to become familiar with this era. Perhaps "Sky Marshal" would be more familiar"

The Sky Marshall (Status: Normal, Hits: 100)
Hearing the Blockhead suitably chastised and his nom de guerre uttered by the ghost, Jesse returned to the dossiers. He followed Couchemar's finger to an aircraft that he had missed in his review.
"Wow." A low whistle reverberates from the helmet as Jesse pulled the photo closer to examine it. "I didn't see that. Athough it's tough to tell from the grainy image, it looks like an experimental German design, probably an Horten." Jesse started prattling on in egghead mode forgeting his cousin Greg would never have known or cared anything about this stuff. "This one appears powered by four rear-mounted push-props, which is smaller than the mammoth, six-engined, long-range Horten VIII. The range of that monster plane was reported to be in excess of 3,500 miles. Based on the airframe and engines, I suspect this one might be able to carry a payload of up to about ten tons. If they dedicated much of that payload to fuel, they could easily have crossed the Atlantic."

As he had watched the film the General played, his stomach tightened. These * bastards were hitting us on our own soil, and even sent their own mystery men types to do deed. He thought back to his time over in China with the Flying Tigers; at least the Japs, for all their brutality, had some sense of honor. These * didn't care about such things. This was a new kind of war, and one he'd better get used to fast.
Following the film, he listened to the various introductions, and the bickering that followed after the General asked him and Blockade to take these people under our wing. Blockade's a good soldier, but his contempt for civilians is getting somewhat out of hand here. As much as he hated to admit it, he had to step up, or we've all ready lost the fight. After that last exchange between Blockade and Sky Marshal, he knew he had to put an end to this real quick!
"All right, that's enough! Is this the kind of message we're going to send the American people? There are * mystery men operating with impunity in OUR country, and all we're doing is arguing over who really should be here or not."
The Major shook his head, a look of sadness on his face. When he lifted his head up, he turned it to face Blockade
"I know you think these "civilians" shouldn't be on this mission, but let's face facts: The * are using super powered agents, and you and I might not be enough to take them down. Sure, we could bring some regular joes with us, but that would be putting their lives at risk. These people have special abilities, just like we do. Are they trained soldiers? No. Are they able to work as a unit? Not right now. But they can learn, and it's up to use to teach them. You talk a big fight Blockade, but I've all ready fought in the Great War, and I've fought the Japs over in China when America tried to hide from what was going on. I've seen too much destruction happening, and now it's on our shores.
He shook his head, an let out a soft chuckle
"This country was founded by people just like these, volunteering to fight for their country. Our military was started by people like this, who had no little to no formal training. *, if what I heard is right, Unknown Soldier was one of them! You don't like having them I get. You think we could do better without them. The General doesn't agree, and neither do I. We need people with special abilities to counter those of the * agents. Now, since the "Major" in my code name is a real rank, I suggest you follow orders soldier, and help me whip these people into a team that can handle these * supers before they tear down the morale of the country. Our boys overseas are counting on US to make sure they get what they need to win this fight. So either you're with us, or you're not. I want you on this team, but if you can't get past working with these people, you'll only make it that much harder to get the job done right. So shape up or ship out, got it?"
The Major glared at Blockade, daring him to challenge his authority. Inside though, his stomach was full of butterflies. He didn't want this assignment; he still felt unsure of himself, regardless of his great powers. Still, someone had to stand up and take charge, and as an officer in the US Army Air Corps, it fell to him, like it or not. He just prayed that he didn't get any of these people killed....

Jack decided that he probably didn’t have the skill set for working in the diplomatic core, and the choice of spending another 6 months being some guinea pig for SSU (Special Scientific Unit) or seeing some proper combat, even if it meant working with a bunch of freaks and taking orders from some jumped up flyboy then so be it.
Blockade met the Majors gaze “I always wanted to join the circus when I was a kid Major, so I guess I’m in.” stands to attention and salutes “Captain Starr reporting for duty”.
