The time I am thinking of, the brick 'took the hit' to negate the small burst effect of 3 machineguns as his lightly built companions sheltered behind him. Essentially the brick provided enough cover that few or no bullets got past him to the others. I judged that this was worthy of spending the hero die. as it negated three x5 attacks on each of three of his companions.
It also was not the bricks panel to do this, so he was jumping the priority que to do it.
