A Blaster Pistol can be a piece of "normal" equipment assuming you have a reason to have access to something that high tech (you're from the future, a super scientist, alien, etc).

So yes, you could have that with Conjuring.

Conjuring itself describes what you need to conjure something that mimics a power (like a flying carpet). I don't have it in front of me though.

What if some of the things he wanted to produce on a moment's notice were:

- a blaster pistol
- an EMP device
- a lockpicking/computer hacking device
- jet boots
- etc.?

ie, what if the main items he wanted to "conjure" are devices that give him temporary powers? What level of Conjuring do I need?
The Conjuration description (Page 52 of the original Ultimate Edition) says that any item, that also has fantastic powers, requires 2 extra ranks of the Conjuration power. The base rank required to bring any item is based upon its most economical size.

So a flying car (like Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang – but more generic of course) would start with a base rank of 3 plus 2 levels for fantastic powers for a total of 5 levels of Conjuration. A generic magic ring that allows the character to fly would only require 3 levels of conjuration.

Next, the rules say that a fantastic conjured object can only have a numbers of powers equal to its final conjuration. Thusly, the flying car could offer Flight 5 (25 sq/panel) while the generic magic ring of flying could only offer Flight 3 (or maybe Flight 4 with a limitation – like only while holding your breath).

@Mr. Jupiter:

Thank you so much for clearing up my confusion! But how could Conjuring create an object that could give a character a skill?

For example, The Tinkerer is a gadgeteer without Lockpicking skills. How could he use his Conjuring to produce an electronic lockpicking device? Is it simply making X item with Boost to Mind (so his default in Security skill goes up)?

Hmmm. You could just use Mastery X (machines or gadgets) to change the door from locked to unlocked. Use the Mind check as the difficulty of the lock. The "special effect" is a lockpicking gun.

cheers

I'm not sure what anyone elses thoughts might be, but I've been curious if someone could adapt the Skillful 'power' in a way that the power itself would hold the skill in question.

As in...
Lock Picking Device: Skillful 2 (Limit: easilty taken gadget). Granting the skill Security 4 /Picking Locks.

Huh!!..... That's really neat.
Seems sound to me! Very cool outside-the-box thinking. Be neat to have more things like that for an "outside-the-box" power build article for BAM!

hey, kev. I love the idea for an out of the box power build article. I’ve seen so many great ones that are a real pain to try and find now since the BASH forum has grown quite substantial in size. I think it would be cool if someone could gather some of these up…

Great idea (but I’m not volunteering right now my plate is quite full right now. Kev… ?)
