Okay!
Now we have more info to actually work from.
That's what I was hoping for, to be able to best reply.
See more thoughts in-line below...

urbwar wrote:Also, some suggestions on just what kind of equipment they are stealing, so the players will see it's important, but not know why so easily.

The idea is that the equipment they've stolen prior to the start if the scenario were needed to help create the Giant Ants. When they meet the pc's, they are getting more equipment, but nothing that will prevent Sovi-Ape from making them.

One thought I had was that one encounter involves them trying to steal uranium, and stopping that means he can't make more Giant Ants (hence there only being 2 or 3 come the final showdown)

Hhhhmmm... why not something that doesn't help "make" the Giant Ants but rather something that controls them or works toward that... something that hints toward that. How about:
- kidnapping the foremost insect authority in the USA
- stealing massive food supplies that Ants need
- theft of a "colony" or "ant hill" from a museum exhibit
- stealing things that will attract or control the ants, such as things to get them to follow or some "insect mind controller" device or some sonic device that would drive anything with hyper hearing (like dogs) or insects.
- stealing some sort of longevity potion that will maintain their giant size. (radiation emitter belts/harnesses)

No matter what the "thing" (the McGuffin) is, you'd want it to be a hint/clue but not an automatic sign that their will be giant ants at the end...

urbwar wrote:How to make the Giant Ants? Other than probably using Uranium (so they give off higher than normal radiation, much, iirc, like they did in the movie THEM!),

"mutated by atomic radiation to the size of an automobile"
Why not just USE the exact location and ideas for the events from the movie THEM!...?
Here's the wikipedia "PLOT"

Also... take a look at "Resizing" in fiction.
Or "Insects in Film".

urbwar wrote: Swarm: This one I know I need help with. Basically, a sentient swarm of some type of stinging insect (like the old Marvel villain)

I'd do... (in this order)
Ghost Form 2 (&/or Resistances) + Mind Shield (too many!) + Damaging Aura and/or Field + Continual Damage (the venom!).
AND/OR
+ Special Attack and/or Weaken
+ Immobilization (for a honey/goo)

or...
Duplication: make the "prime" bug and go from there.

or...
Conjuring.

With Weaknesses:
Devastating Negating to SMOKE
and possibly Devastating Damage Water.

urbwar wrote:You kind of asked me that after I posted the AP to Plague of Darkness.
Yup.
It just helps more.

urbwar wrote:I did find an image to use for Giant Army Ants (I think it's for a video game)s, now I just need to sit down and stat those out. I know they will have Size, and likely immobilize linked to a continual attack (though I'm iffy on that, as I find Continuous attack kind of under powered).

I don't know about Continuous Dmg or Immobilize for giant ants... but they're your ants! I might think about a sonic (i.e. Mental Atk) for them, against heroes that are hard to hurt/hit with physical and burst attacks. I JUST experienced this in my game with a character with HIGH Defense to dodge and high acrobatics to get out of Bursts, almost no way/chance to hit him physically.

but overall....
Hey why re-create the wheel... go simple!
To create "custom giant ants" you can easily use a mix of THESE stats from the BASH! UE book...

(I particularly like the idea of "radiation sickness" you could model from the notes on Nukes, that in real life would linger and kill you... but in 1950s style comics would just be sickening while in the area...)

Atomic Devices info
The surface will be a radioactive zone for years after impact. Prolonged exposure to this radiation can cause radiation sickness, but it can be avoided by wearing protective gear. A person exposed to radiation for a prolonged period of time has a -2 Dice Penalty to all Brawn rolls. Each week, the person will get worse, and permanently lose 1 Hit.

Hope that helps even more..
