I was part of UC Davis' local gaming club- where we literally had a dozen pizzas every week. I just asked the guy who brought the pizzas if I could have them instead of them going in the trash. I took them home, washed them off, and had a dozen in one night.
heheh.... yeah - good one. I don't tend to go to alot of those things, hence looking for another option to get around 20 - that's way more than I would ever need.
What I've done in the past for flyers:
a. use a six-sided die, turning the side UP to show how many 10s of feet they are in the air. 1 = 10', 2=20', and so on. The only problem with that is the minis falling off, being unstable. Though if I really wanted I could just get some sticky-gum stuff.
b. (I like this option and may look more into it) I've used those clear-plastic rectangular little cases that most new sets of dice come in. I've used them for both "force fields" or "gelatinous cubes" to set down over minis (but that doesn't always work with odd shaped minis. And for FLIGHT just set them down on TOP of the little plastic-box. That works great, because they're just barely over 1" in width. I've not thought of it before but I might also glue a little laminated white page with "flying height" or something on it - then be able to easily mark height with a wipe-marker (I think the plastic wouldn't wipe off as easy as lamination plus it'd be hard to see on the clear plastic). Huh... I may try this! I have nearly 20 of those things floating around from old dice sets - not sure WHY I kept them... UNTIL NOW! If I do this, I'll post a picture later. hehe
Wow. I like THIS thread, it's helping me think of and think through ideas on the spot that I wouldn't have done before!!
NEAT!
thanks!
What's NEXT?!??
Either your ideas and uses of stuff - OR post a "problem" you'd like solved with some arts-n-crafty stuff for gaming. Maybe we can think of an option together!
Heck, it might be fun to make a mini-PDF to release for Supers RPGs of arts-n-crafts for things like this! heheh
