Mass Combat ?

Hi everyone,
this time is just for curiosity.
Has anyone ever though/tried some rules about Mass Combat ? (Two armies facing each other).

I know it is not superheroic-themed, probably it would be a better question on SCI-FI board or Fantasy board, but I was comparing BASH (that is great) with Savage Worlds (great too, but not so versatile) and I stumbled upon savage worlds mass combat rules (that are quite cool) and I wondered if anyone ever tried to portray a mass battle with BASH.

Again, just curious.

Yes, there are Mass Combat rules in both BASH! Sci-Fi and BASH! Fantasy that could probably be ported quite easily to BASH! UE.

To give a brief summary of how it works, you treat units of men just like characters, but the hits represent how many people are in the unit, rather than individual health. The time-scale is lengthened where each battle round is minutes or an hour instead of seconds. Likewise distance is lengthened, where 1 "Grid" in battlefield combat is like 10 Squares or more in regular combat. Units don't roll to hit (hundreds of people all swinging swords or shooting each other hit; the question is how many, which is resolved by rolling damage). Agility still matters because it figures movement, and more importantly, Priority, which resolves moevement in reverse order of Priority (allowing the fastest people react to the movements of the slowest). Combat is resolved simultaneously.

Every other page is a Heroic Page where the Heroes get to do things at the regular scale; these things can impact the outcome of the battle in a variety of ways.

while I haven't tested the mass combat rules in a superhero game, I did use the rules for taking out starships by breaching the hull if you do enough damage in one shot after armor. Worked really well for a cosmic one shot I ran.

Yes, both are being developed right now. The Fantasy one is actually really close.

I did a mass combat in BASH Fantasy to try out the rules, and ended up using the outcome as background material. It works nicely. :)

I've used it several times and found that it allows a nice epic feel to battles that allows the Heroes' actions to matter an yet still resolves quickly; which was the goal.
