New Advantages

Post by Lindharin »

Ritualist
This advantage is similar to Gadgeteer, but instead allows the user to enchant temporary magical items or perform one-time magical rituals. Once per issue, by spending some time and making an appropriate Occultism roll, you can design and perform a ritual. The ritual can create a temporary magical item, but it must replace one piece of your normal equipment. Alternatively, it can be a single-use ritual cast as if you had spent a Hero Die to perform a power stunt.

Not bad.

I don't understand the last sentence though.

The last sentence is referring to the power stunt rule on page 21. You can use your one ritual per issue to make a free power stunt, instead of swapping out an existing item for a new one. It is not generally useful in combat (unlike the Versatile advantage) since it takes time to prepare the ritual, Occult rolls to design it, etc.

However, if he has some time to prepare, it would allow the sorcerer to come up with a ritual to give himself a one-time use of Sense X to locate something, or Clairvoyance, or a dimensional teleport, or maybe Earth Mastery to help stop the volcano that a villain is building under the city, etc.

Yes! This is a great addition. Thanks for the next post to clear up the last sentance. I can see me getting quite a bit of use out of this one! Thanks.

It seems similar to Grimoire, but instead of spells you are swapping out magic equipment. Cool, though!

What's Grimoire? Is that in BASH UE, or Fantasy? I don't have Fantasy, so I'm guessing it is there. Or I'm going blind and missed it in UE! :)

Oh, cool, I didn't even notice there were advantages/disadvantages there! I think I skipped over that section since I wasn't planning on doing a fantasy game. Thanks for pointing it out! (I like Cursed even for a supers game... ;))
