Has anybody got an idea for a limitation that makes a power only work solidly up to half the power's rank but then suffers under some restricted condition for the second half?
I'm asking because I was thinking of a Telekinesis power for a player's character (with Hidden Powers disadvantage) that would work easily for up to 400 lbs (rank 2) but requires Concentration when operating at the rank 3 level.
I ended up just giving the character TK 2 and expecting that they'd have to 'push' their character if they wanted more.
We won't be playing again until next week, so if someone has a better solution, I've got time to fix it.

Now that's an angle I hadn't thought of! Tomorrow, or sometime soon when I have the chance to get to my rules, I'll take a look at that.dugfromthearth wrote:the game is really set up not to do that - a limitation applies to the whole power
but there is the extra effects loophole - for an advantage you get +x2 in some situations.
so get TK2, extra effects +x2 when you concentrate (which would make it TK4)
I've been thinking in my head today about a limitation idea that would work by applying three conditions. The first would be that the power works fine up to two levels below the rank purchased at (so this limitation could not be purchased for a power at less than 3rd rank). Second, the player/narrator must assign another limitation to the power that is applied when it is used above this lower level (like Activation, Concentration, Disorienting, or whatever). Third, the limitation would impose an automatic -2 Dice Penalty hindrance on rolls when it is used at the higher levels (in a similar way that the Boost power comes with a built in limiter).
It’s a little wonky right now (and perhaps a little rules heavy for a streamlined game like BASH), and a cool title. I like it but your Extra-Effect idea might be the way I’ll go.
Thanks
