Hey fellas,
Feel free to ignore this if you like, but I thought I'd post my second attempt at working through this issue for myself. What's the issue? Finding ways to nuance Mind. Most folks like to give scientist characters really high Mind scores. I think this is fine, except that you end up with super scientists who by default also happen to be extremely willful, charismatic, and everything else that is associated with this very broad Statistic.
Some folks have suggested buying a lower Mind for such characters, and then buying Boost (Mind) with an appropriate focus. I think this works, and I use it in some of my builds, but this approach proves somewhat unsatisfying when working with certain four color settings.
I'm therefore offering the following in my games as options to tweak and/or nuance Mind for my players.
Normal Will: Your character might have a powerful intellect, but he or she is no more reslilient to mental stresses than most humans. Characters with this Disadvantage suffer -2 to Mental Denfese.
Science Obsessed: Your character is brilliant, but almost exclusively focused on science and technology. Your character suffers a -2 multiplier when using his or her Mind stat for anything other than science and technology.
Sorcery Obsessed: Your character is brilliant, but almost exclusively focused on the study of magic. Your character suffers a -2 multiplier when using his or her Mind stat for anything other than magic, mysticism, and related lore.
Best,
Dragonfly

I like how these are set up; particularly your Normal Will disadvantage.
The two ...Obsessed disadvantages would allow the character to still stock up on skills; just with the majority of them reasonably resting within the science/technology or magic/mystic category.
Also, another benefit is that powers that would reside within the applicable fields (such as a special attack from a Blaster Weapon) would still benefit from full Mind for determining ranged damage, and other such benefits.
Way to go!
