How to Do?: Energy Absorption

Hey guys,

I recently noticed that BASH UE has no Energy Absorption power as such. This is something I cobbled together for a character who has a power suit with the ability to absorb energy and channel it to boost his weapons systems. This is how I've modeled it:

Energy Absorption: Boost 2 (Brawn - Only for Soak), 2 pts.

[Note: this power is in a Multi-Power, along with his Special Attack and Force Field powers. The following power is outside of the Multi-Power]

Power Boost: Boost 2 (Mind - Only for Damage with Weapon Systems, Limitation: Must Use Absorption Power Before Each Use of Power Boost), 1 pt.

So normally the character does Damage x5 with his Special Attack (+2 for the Special Attack, +3 for Mind). If he slots his Energy Absorption and gets hit by a powerful energy blast in one panel, he can switch over to his Special Attack on the next panel and do x7 Damage due to his Power Boost. Having expelled the energy he absorbed, however, he'd have to re-slot his Energy Absorption if he wants to do that again.

How does this seem to you? Too clunky? Easier ways of doing it? Other ways of doing it?

Best,

Dragonfly

P.S. This is the last of my questions for awhile.

There are a number of ways to do this. It usually involves 2 powers. When power #1 is used in a certain circumstance, it allows #2 to be used.

Example: Fire Absorption:

Immunity 1 (Fire)
Healing 3 <Limit>

Kinetic Energy Absorption
Armor 3
Boost 3 Brawn when he soaks damage from kinetic energy <Limit>

So you seem to be on the right track.

I built an energy absorber for BASHMAN's Calvalcade: Battery.

Basically he has Boost 3 Brawn (Soak) to simulate absorbing the damage.

Then he has Boost 3 Brawn (Strength) if he takes kinetic damage. It's gradual with 10 damage per point of Boost.

And Special Attack (variable) if he takes non-kinetic damage with a situational limitation that the attack energy must be the same as what was absorbed.

I didn't build any energy cost or ammo limits to simulate that he is efficient at getting more out of the energy he absorbed. Plus, I wanted to keep him simple.
