does a "friendly" SLAP, wake up a Dazed character?

If a character is DAZED can an ally slap them to "snap them out of it"? My question is in the rule for DAZE that says:

[DAZE p.48]
"A dazed person cannot dodge an attack, but being struck un-dazes him or her."

And... if so:

- What does it take to hit a Dazed ally, that is okay with being hit to snap out of it? Is there any roll needed?

- Can the ally slapping his Dazed friend choose to do any sort of minimum Damage to snap them out of it? Choosing to only do 1 HIT of Dmg or would you roll the damage as normal? Or does just being "struck" un-daze the ally without doing any damage?

Thanks!

I'd allow it- but they have to roll damage and multiply it by their Brawn. Otherwise they didn't hit them hard enough to un-daze them.

hehe... Okay.
So no "pulling your punch" then?
If I want to un-daze my teammate, I gotta SLUG'EM HARD! Correct? :)

Which brings me to another question.
Can you pull a punch (ie. actively ask to do less damage) to a villain or minion?

The Narrator can allow that if they want. Since there is no specific rules about Negative Hits, it really doesn't matter. If you punch somebody and do 150 damage, and they soak 10, they are knocked-out. If you punch someone for 5,000 damage and they soak 10 they are knocked out. There is no difference. Either one can revive with a Hero Die or several hours.

The only time this would really matter is if you are using the Lethal damage rules. Then I would interpret pulling a punch to mean you are choosing to do Stun instead of Lethal damage. If you are using a sword, maybe you hit them with the flat of your blade, etc. You cannot pull bullets, though, obviously.

Cool BASHMAN!

Totally all makes sense. That'd be my best judgement as well. I like hearing thoughts on how others would handle it to give me ideas.

That said.
Would you say it's in the spirit of the rules to either:

1. allow the hero to pull their punch for "free"?
or
2. allow the hero to pull their punch at the "cost" of a Hero Point (or more of a cost, a Hero Die)?

Would the answer to that be different IF you were Narrating using the LETHAL rule options?

I ask...
because making it cost something (or not) informs me a little on the thought process for the nature/spirit of the game system rules overall.
On knowing when and what to "charge" a cost for, for in-game requests.

Thanks for the insite!

I'd let them pull it for free, I wouldn't charge anything for it.
