does Mind Shield allow breaking x5?

For a Street Level Campaign Scale, if I have a character with a 2 MIND Stat and want to increase that with MIND SHIELD - can I take 2 (or 3) levels in Mind Shield = x6 MIND (or x8 MIND).
Similar to Armor?
Or does a character's MIND stat cap out at x5?

I have seen examples of Armor x8 (such as Superman), but I have not seen characters with a Mind Shield taking them beyond x5.

I think Mind Shield works like Armor and Deflect, so you can technically exceed the Stat x5. However, I think the narrator has something to say about it. For example, in Dustland's new Pbp he has expressed that he won't allow rolls above x5.

Yes, mind shield can increase Mental Defense above x5- but only Mental Defense- not generic Mind checks.
