How do you give Experience?

I'd like to explore more on giving Experience Points or some sorts of rewards for BASH! (now that I'm beginning a new group campaign).

How do you use the Alternative Rules for Experience Points?
Any thoughts/suggestions on them?

I decided to GIVE "story rewards" as part of the XP reward. In-game when the PC-Heroes decided to talk to, work with, and in fact have a mini-interview with the press in a situation they didn't need to... I said they could either:
- take "Celebrity" for FREE
- take "Police Powers" for FREE
- or if they had one of those, come up with some other Advantage that makes sense (explain it to me) that their hero gets from this interaction. One player asked for "Contacts" with the news media, which I thought was great. So I worked in a news NPC for the scene for him to begin a relationship with.


Does that seem fair/right by the rules?
What other ways do you reward the PCs as XP?
