A bit of a concern

So I have been awash in almist nothing but BASH stuff for the past several days. I'll be posting the results of some of my work later. But in the meantime, here at work, I have been reading way too many threads about everything.
I've already made the joke to Chris that the new edition of BASH will mean the present one is actually the Penultimate Edition. But I'm actually a little concerned about this for real.
In off-hand references here and there, I'm seeing Chris say that "I've changed this" or "I'm adding this," etc. It's nice to know that there's new stuff coming, but there's a part of me that's getting the sweats.
In 1983, Champions was awesome. Then Champions 2 and 3 came out, and I thought there was a lot of cool stuff in there. This was all compiled into what I consider a high water mark: 3rd edition Champions. Then the BBB came out. In general, I liked it, but there as the hint of too much to it. Then 5th confirmed it, and now I have no use for 6th at all and won't go back to HERO.
I know I'm probably getting unnecessarily apocalytic here, but I really don't want too much added to BASH, and I certainly don't want too much changed. If/when this hypothetical new edition comes out, will it be invalidating the hundreds of characters I have for the game now? Will it become unnecessarily rules-y and complicated? Will there be more ways to manipulate points and create characters that are deceptively too powerful? I fear.

The New book adds less than 8 pages of content. This is including an adventure and additional art. Most things are a re-wording here, or a clarification there.
One of the things that added the most text to the book was adding rules for intimidation, and there have been a few additional powers added. Heightened for instance will now be a core power.
But this isn't going to be like the bloat you experienced. I have no intention of making a bulletproof book. It is 8 pages.
As for invalidating characters you already made? Absolutely not.

for those of us with previous versions of the pdf, will we be able to download the new one, or will that be a seperate purchase?

Thanks for the response, Chris. I figured you'd set me straight. I didn't think you were going bulletproof (:)), but I was just concerned with maintaining everything I love so much about the game. I guess my comment on invalidating characters was based on a couple things I saw here and there (don't ask me to cite anything - I think Heightened Senses may have been one) where point costs were going to be changed. Obviously, in a game with low point totals like BASH, re-configuring a point here or there is no problem. But in my perfect world, it wouldn't be needed at all.
Anyway. Enough. I sound so critical because I love your product that much. So is this new version with 8 extra pages the Cubicle 7 color version that we hope to see in a few months? Or is this a ways down the pike yet?

It won't be a seperate purchase. If you got it from rpgnow.com, and similar sites, you should be able to re-download it once it is updated. I am not launching it as a new product, but just updating the exisitng one.
Doing it as a "New" product might mean more sales (getting on the front page) but I think it would also be a dirty trick.

So the cover art and text is all the same? I.e. it looks like the same book overall?
And again, is this the Cubicle 7 full color reprint or is this something else?

As I said before there is 8 more pages. So obviously the text isn't exactly the same. Errata has been dealt with, powers have been added, Advantages & Disads have been added, and some have been clarified.
I would say the text is over 90% the same.
The Cover art is the same- but the Masthead is changed. Some stuff on the back cover was moved around to make room for a Cubicle 7 Logo to go on there as well (That answers that question I hope).
I will be posting a full Errata of what's changed between printings to the website when the product launches.

I hope so.

As of my last email from C7 the other day, yes it is.

Hurrah!!! My Suggestion Power (with Activation Limitation; still 1 character point cost) finally worked!
Thanks, BASHMAN.

Oh my goodness! This is fantastic! I hadn't heard about this. Having BASH UE in color alone is worth it, and I look forward to the new powers, etc.
One more question: Is this going to be hardcover?
Best,
Dragonfly

Yeah, I wanted to ask that too, but I felt I was getting a little pesky with my questions. So, uh, let me 2nd Dragonfly's question and also ask if a price point has been considered yet.
Oh yeah: and will you be taking pre-orders.
There. I'll try to keep quiet now. No promises.

Preorder page on the C7 site
here. The listing says softcover.
I'm glad to see this is being redone, though I (and I know I'm likely the minority here) wish there'd be a few more pages that go beyond the templates in the back to help show examples of using the powers in the book to represent different things. I find in conversations with people that is the one thing they find lacking in the core rules.
