Deflect and Affect others

I just built a Hero with a pair of crazy Gadget-Guns. The Hero is so fast that he can deflect attacks with gunshots. I thought it nice if he could do that too to save his team-members. Obviously Affect Others is the choice for that.
Would the Deflect power has to have the Range enhancement too to defend buddies further away?
And how would the power work when defending others? I am torn between the Hero himself rolling his defense to deflect the attack OR the team member that is the target of the attack adding the Heroe's Deflect-Level to his own defense. If the first option is the way to go, would the team member get an additional defense roll using his own defense?
And how often could the Hero deflect attacks against himself and his buddies on one page?
Questions over questions... :)

You are right on several points. You use Affects Others. You do need to add the Ranged enhancement and put points into ranged (or alternatively Area) to affect allies who aren't adjacent.

Something you cannot do is use this ability as a "free action" when you are using it for someone else, because you are essentially attacking someone else's shot.

You would need to hold your panel, or spend a Hero Die or use Quick Thinking to take an interrupt action to deflect incoming shots. Of course, Super Speed would make sure you get that extra action to hold per page- and you can even take it with a Limitation so that it can only be used for that purpose...

PS- I have made characters who do this before, and they are very fun! My favorite was a Villain who was based on Bullseye from Marvel. In one page, he threw a flower pot at the Heroes, shot it with a pistol (to make it explode into shards of shrapnel), then emptied the remnants of the pistol at the heroes in a Burst, then threw the empty pistol at the heroes, ricocheting it off of one's head into another. That was 1 page (double taps, plus off-hand shooting). When the Heroes tried blasting him, he threw a bunch of debris to block the shots, so they all missed.

For two sessions, he was the most feared villain the PCs ever faced because he kept doing badass stunts like that, and pulling them off (my own dice luck being a major factor, and players having bad luck). Then, on their third meeting, the Heroes beat the snot out of him (I think Smokescreen took him out in one blast).

Thanx again for the very quick feedback. I think BASH is really unique in having the opportunity to get the opinion of the game's mastermind. That's really cool :)

What you write really makes sense and I understand it that the Hero with the Deflect Power would roll his stats for the deflect roll. With offhand shooting, would he be allowed to do that twice with a hold action thus deflect two attacks against his team mambers? And would the target of the attack get a shot at trying to evade the attack himself too?

Another question came to my mind regarding what you wrote as I thought about giving my hero Double Taps too: Could you use Double Taps with Offhand Shooting in one page? For Double Taps the book says that you cannot use it with other powers in a page (and can you double tap a gadget-pistol?).

Yes- but don't forget there is a penalty for using Off-Hand shooting.

Have the target roll a Defense roll, and you roll deflect- use the higher result. Don't forget, you cannot deflect some attacks (like Bursts or Wrestling attacks). Also, in the case of your shooting deflect, I wouldn't have it affect melee attacks (so take "Limitation: only affects Ranged attacks".
